OrcaNation Partners Exclusively with Alladale Wilderness Reserve, Scotland for School Expeditions #ad

Posted: 1st May 2026

OrcaNation, the BSA-certified outdoor education provider, has secured an exclusive partnership with Alladale Wilderness Reserve in the Scottish Highlands, offering international schools expeditions to one of the UK’s most unique rewilding projects.

Spanning 23,000 acres of moorland, native forest, rivers and mountains an hour north of Inverness, Alladale is a working conservation landscape where students do not simply study ecological restoration, they actively participate in it. This partnership offers schools access to residential programmes built around genuine fieldwork, with activities including river monitoring, species identification, deer impact assessment and native tree planting. Each school group can also take ownership of its own reforestation plot, a living legacy students can track and study long after the trip ends.

Beyond the science, the programme is structured to develop the whole student and to help inspire lifelong memories. Days can involve bushcraft and navigation workshops, gorge walking, wild camping, a three-day expedition hike and even yoga sessions, with evenings given over to documentary screenings and group reflection. Additionally, the experience counts towards IB CAS hours, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the John Muir Award.

Students are accommodated in bell tents and have access to Deanich Lodge for dining and social gatherings. OrcaNation instructors partner on-site with Àban, Alladale’s resident adventure learning company. All programmes meet the strictest HSEQ and international child safeguarding standards.

Programmes run from June through to August. Itineraries are fully customisable to suit a particular year group, a school’s curriculum and budget.
