Liz Free has been announced as the new principal at Oxford International College Brighton (OIC Brighton). She joins as the college celebrates exceptional exam results. 1 in 3 students received three or more A levels at A/A*, and at GCSE 62% of all grades awarded were the equivalent of A*/A.
Liz Free said: “I am excited to lead OIC Brighton into its next phase of development and to build on everything that has been achieved since it opened. The results this year are a testament to the hard work of the students and staff, and I look forward to working with the team further to build on this. Developing an ambitious, supportive environment in which young people, and staff, can thrive is my priority.”
Liz is an internationally recognised school leader with extensive experience across UK and international education. Most recently she served as CEO and Director of the International School Rheintal in Switzerland and she has also held senior leadership roles at the British School in the Netherlands and Oxford University Press.
Liz joins Oxford International College Brighton with a strong track record of leading growth, building inclusive school communities and keeping students, staff and families at the centre of school life. She also feels it is important to take a holistic view to students’ education explaining: “Our students are growing up in exciting and fast changing times and their education has to reflect this. Education is not just academic study, we would be failing our students if they didn’t also develop their skills as change makers and original thinkers.”

Liz is a Trustee of WomenEd and her leadership has been recognised through the IFIP Global Inclusion Award and as a finalist for the Tes International Headteacher of the Year.
Liz will welcome over one hundred existing and new students aged between 13 and 18 when OIC Brighton opens for the new academic year on Wednesday 26th August. Her appointment signals an exciting new chapter for the college which will build on the foundation of academic excellence and continue to develop a thriving community where students and staff can flourish.
