BSA Sleep Champions

We all recognise the importance of sleep. The benefits of maintaining healthy and consistent sleep routines have long been understood, and we know this is particularly vital for children and young adults.

During adolescence, the body undergoes significant growth and hormonal changes, making sufficient and good-quality sleep crucial for physical and mental health. Sleep plays a pivotal role in cognitive functions, memory consolidation and is an essential component to academic success and overall wellbeing.

The BSA Sleep Champions scheme aims to celebrate and give recognition to schools who are committed to improving sleep hygiene within their boarding facilities.

Become a BSA Sleep Champion

To become a BSA Sleep Champion, members are required to:

  1. Complete a comprehensive sleep audit (available from April 2024) to assess sleep hygiene in the boarding environment.
  2. Attend an expert-led sleep webinar in the summer term (dates to be announced soon)

Completed audits are to be submitted via email to bsa@boarding.org.uk for review.

Once the above are complete, schools will receive a certificate, a logo for use in email footers or your school website and a branded cushion cover for display. Schools will be accredited BSA Sleep Champions for a term of three years, 2024-2027.
