Nutrition Champions

Supporting boarders with a balanced diet helps to establish good eating habits into adulthood. Nutrient-rich foods fuel brain function, strengthen immune systems, boost concentration, provide a steady supply of energy and support emotional wellbeing.

On April 13 2026, the Department for Education launched a consultation to improve school food standards in England with a view to updating standards which no longer reflect latest nutritional guidance for September 2026.

To support schools in showcasing their food provision, we’re delighted to launch registrations for the BSA Nutrition Champions scheme, supported by allmanhall, which recognises schools committed to providing boarders with healthy and balanced meal and snack choices from breakfast through to dinner.

By becoming a certified BSA Nutrition Champion, schools demonstrate good-quality food provision for their boarding community, aligned with latest nutritional standards.

How to become a BSA Nutrition Champion

To become a BSA Nutrition Champion, members are required to:

  1. Complete the registration form (below)
  2. Watch the pre-recorded training webinar delivered by the scheme’s sponsor and food procurement specialists, allmanhall.
  3. Complete and submit a comprehensive nutrition audit to assess food provision in the boarding environment.

Please note: the training webinar and audit resource pack will be available in June 2026 but registrations for the scheme are open.

Completed audits are to be submitted via email to bsa@boarding.org.uk for review.

Schools who achieve Nutrition Champion status will receive formal certification, a logo for use in email footers or your school website, and a branded Nutrition Champion coaster for your boarding house. Schools will become accredited BSA Nutrition Champions for a term of three years.
