Taunton School announces appointment of new Deputy Head Academic

Dr Graham Mallard is set to join Taunton’s senior leadership team this September. He is
currently Assistant Head Academic at Clifton College in Bristol.
Originally from Leicestershire, Dr Mallard studied economics at Cambridge University
and has a PhD in Economic Decision Making from the University of Bath. He has written
six books with his most recent on the behavioural science of teaching and learning and
has published articles in leading academic journals.
“I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Deputy Head Academic at Taunton
School and to be joining such a welcoming, strong and exciting boarding and day
community,” said Dr Mallard.
Dr Mallard has taught Economics, Business and Politics in a number of schools. During
his career, he has also been jointly responsible for the International Baccalaureate
programme and headed up academic enrichment and research. He has led on the
provision for pupils aspiring to attend leading global universities and helped them
succeed in applications each year to Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and many more.
He added: “I am looking forward to getting to know all of the pupils and to ensuring
each of them continues to be given the support they need to fulfil their individual
academic potential and to be fully equipped for their lives beyond school.”
Dr Mallard will take over from Damian Henderson who has been appointed Principal at
King William’s College on the Isle of Mann.

joining us next academic year. He has already been involved in many discussions this
term about the future of the school’s academic provision. He is very eager to get started
and brings with him a wealth of experience from a number of high-quality schools.
