A massive well done to Maddie Whitmore who claimed the runner up spot in the Senior Category of the Classical Associationโs Creative Writing competition.
This makes it two creative writing prizes for Maddie in the space of two weeks following her receiving first place in the David Selwyn Prize โ sheโs clearly been keeping busy!
The competition was held to celebrate the appointment of actor, broadcaster, narrator and writer Stephen Fry as the CAโs Honorary President for 2021-22, and was open to writers and classicists of all ages.
Maddieโs story โWe are Very Little Thingsโ was chosen from more than 450 wonderfully creative and entertaining entries inspired by Stephenโs books โMythosโ, โHeroesโ and โTroyโ. You can read Maddieโs story here: https://classicalassociation.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/We-Are-Very-Little-Things.pdf
The judges said โWe were blown away by the standard of entries and the judging panel would like to extend their thanks and congratulations to all who participated. It was very difficult to narrow down the entries and draw up the shortlists from which to choose the category winners.โ
