With the abhorrent attacks currently taking place in Ukraine, Richard Huish College staff and students have generously donated a range of items to be transported to the people of Ukraine who are currently fighting against the invasion of Russia and to refugees who have had to flee from the country to protect themselves and their families.
The items which ranged from sleeping bags and backpacks to toothbrushes and medicine were loaded into a van with the help of staff and students to be taken to the ‘Help for Ukraine’ group based in Chard. From Chard, the items will be taken over to Yeovil to the ‘Yeovil helping Ukraine’ group who are taking donations over to the Ukraine/Poland border where they will then be distributed.
Course Manager of Geography and Staff Wellbeing Lead, Nikki Lewis, who helped to organise the collection said “thanks to the generosity of staff and students from Huish we were able to send a van load of first aid, sleeping bags, baby food, hygiene products and so on. The goods were safely delivered to Chard on Wednesday afternoon where they will be packed and sorted before moving to Yeovil”.
