Milton Abbey Pupils Create Time Capsule to Mark Schoolβs Centenary
To mark the 100th anniversary of Milton Abbey School, Lower Sixth pupils Nadiia S and Lucy T organised a special time capsule project, bringing together contributions from across the entire school community.
The capsule, which is due to be opened on 1 May 2054, captures a snapshot of life at Milton Abbey in its centenary year. Each House contributed meaningful items, while staff added letters, departmental photographs and even pieces of clothing, creating a rich and personal record of the school in 2026. The occasion was celebrated with a whole-school BBQ, giving pupils and staff the opportunity to mark this important milestone together.
In recognition of their efforts, Nadiia and Lucy also received a letter from Buckingham Palace in connection with the project and its commemoration of King Athelstan. The message conveyed warm wishes to Milton Abbey School, adding a memorable and distinguished touch to the occasion.
Alize E-K, Lower Sixth, shared her personal contribution to the capsule:
βI put a detailed letter in the time capsule to my 41 year-old self about my hopes and dreams, my current worries that I know I will have overcome, and the best parts of my school years. I loved the sentimentality behind the idea.β
Greg P, also in Lower Sixth, reflected on what the reopening of the capsule will mean to him in the future:
βI just canβt wait to come back to Milton Abbey School on the day we reopen the time capsule. It will be the day before my birthday, and Iβm excited to see what people are doing, what they look like, whoβs here, and whoβs not. I hope to be the Headmaster of Milton Abbey!β
Reflecting on the success of the initiative, Nadiia and Lucy said:
βWe are so happy that it was a success and that so many people participated. We hope that when the capsule is opened, it will bring back lots of positive memories and that future students will feel the spirit of Milton Abbey at this moment in time.β
