Head of Charities and Outreach, Hannah Fearnley, commented: “Our Whole School Walk is a true highlight of the Summer term calendar and a lovely way to kick-start the term. The sunshine was glorious and provided a stunning backdrop for a walk through our grounds; giving pupils and staff time to re-connect before the busy exam season begins.”
During the walk, various refreshments and pupil-made cakes were served, helping to raise just over £350 for Home-Start Blackmore Vale, a charity that supports families with young children through challenging times.
The money raised will go towards ‘Mothers in Mind’, a maternal group that meets weekly in Okeford Fitzpaine. The group provides a safe space to meet and receive advice, support and comfort from each other as well as from professional Home-Start team leaders. The group focuses on mothers who have experienced or are experiencing anxiety, post-natal depression, low mood or loneliness around the time of pregnancy and after birth.
A representative for Home-Start Blackmore Vale has confirmed that the mothers in the group have chosen to use Bryanston’s fundraising money to enhance the weekly group sessions by purchasing wooden highchairs, a wooden supermarket and accessories, a ball pit, craft sets and a baby activity gym.
