Aspiring lawyers at Royal High Bath, GDST (RHB) have been invited to apply for the Johnston Memorial Scholarship 2025/26 – a prestigious award designed to support students aiming to study Law at university.
Providing £1,500 annually to a student in receipt of a bursary or scholarship with significant financial assistance, this initiative is just one example of the GDST’s commitment to making education accessible and empowering young women to achieve their ambitions.
Last year’s recipient, Royal High student Aliya, says the award has been instrumental in helping her pursue her ambitions:
“My own personal experiences and strong moral compass have inspired me to pursue law at university – I feel obliged to make society better actively by defending and supporting the voiceless. I aspire to become a barrister, consistently speaking up for women and minorities who have faced injustice, regardless of their financial or cultural backgrounds.”
Beyond the Johnston Memorial Scholarship, Sixth Form students at Royal High benefit from a wide range of GDST opportunities. From STEM programmes to leadership diplomas, each initiative is designed to help students become the leaders and changemakers of the future.
Other opportunities include:
- Choose Maths – run in collaboration with Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, this brand-new programme highlights the benefits of studying Maths and Maths-related degrees at university.
- LEAD (Leadership Enterprise Advanced Diploma) – a programme allowing students to learn about key elements of mentorship and entrepreneurship, whilst developing their own leadership skills.
- GDST Space Technology Diploma – an initiative designed to equip students with the technical skills and industry insight to explore careers in space science and the wider STEM sectors.
Heidi-Jayne Boyes, Head of Royal High, commented: “We’re proud to be part of a community that believes in investing in every girl’s future. Scholarships like the Johnston Memorial reflect our commitment to removing barriers and empowering our students to aim high – whatever their circumstances.”
