The Royal Hospital School (RHS), in Holbrook, Suffolk, is excited to launch the Young Thinkers’ Challenge 2025, a national competition designed to spark academic curiosity, independent thinking, and a love of learning in pupils across the UK.
Open to pupils in Years 5–8 from across the UK, the competition invites young minds to tackle big questions, share bold ideas, and showcase their creativity across a range of formats, from essays and posters to podcasts and illustrated fact files.
The RHS Young Thinkers’ Challenge 2025 invites entries on topics that spark curiosity and bold ideas, from the wonders of nature and life-changing books to future technologies and lessons from history. Pupils in Years 5–6 can submit a written piece (up to 500 words), poster, or illustrated fact file; while Years 7–8 may enter an essay (600–800 words), poster/infographic, or a short podcast/audio (max 3 minutes).
Winners will receive a £50 Amazon voucher, books, and a certificate, with winning entries showcased at the RHS Scholarship Information Evening on Thursday 20 November 2025. Most importantly, they’ll be recognised for their originality, critical thinking, and engagement with the world around them.
Irfan Latif, Headmaster at the Royal Hospital School, commented: “We believe education is not just about knowledge, but about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and encouraging young people to think boldly. The Young Thinkers’ Challenge is a reflection of our commitment to nurturing inquisitive minds and providing opportunities for talented pupils to flourish through our scholarship programme.”
The competition is part of RHS’s wider mission to make academic scholarships more accessible and visible to prospective families. The competition is open to all pupils nationwide, with entrants and their families also being warmly invited to attend the Scholarship Insight Evening in person.
This event offers a unique opportunity to discover what it means to be an Academic Scholar at RHS. Attendees will hear directly from current scholars and experience the school’s exceptional learning environment, designed to help every pupil reach their full potential.
Entries must be submitted by Monday, 10th November, via email to marketing@royalhospitalschool.org. Full competition details and entry guidelines are available to view here: View PDF.
