Gordonstounβs new Principal Peter Green has taken up post as the schoolβs students begin the new term.
Previously Executive Headmaster at Rugby School he succeeds Lisa Kerr, who has moved to George Watsonβs College in Edinburgh.
Peter is an experienced school leader, and this is his third headship having also worked as Headmaster at Ardingly College. He officially started in his new role on August 1st.
Peter is delighted to be back working in Scotland at Gordonstoun, the leading co-educational independent boarding school and original provider of character education.
Peter Green said:
Β
βItβs humbling and an enormous privilege to follow in the footsteps of Gordonstoun founder Kurt Hahn, who has had a significant influence on my educational philosophy over the past 22 years.
βThere is no school in the world quite like Gordonstoun and I am determined that Gordonstoun will be a beacon for our distinctive form of character education.
βWe have had a significant influence on all UK schools and global education and continue to live by Kurt Hahnβs principles to this day.
βLike Hahn I firmly believe that students need to encounter βchallengeβ and above all βcompassionβ during their school days.
βChallenge is found in the classroom, on the mountains and sea, on the stage and sports fields and many other areas.Β Compassion is developed during the daily cycle of school life, within weekly service activities and international service projects.Β
βOur motto, βPlus Est En Vousβ, (there is more in you) will continue to be at the heart of everything we do and lived out in our close-knit boarding community, our 40 different nationalities and our huge range of inspiring activities.
βIt is a real pleasure to be living and working in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland and Iβm looking forward to immersing myself in the role of principal in the coming weeks and months.β
David White, Chair of Governors, added:
βWe are delighted to have Peter at the school. He brings with him enormous experience, educational innovation and leadership.
βHe will be pivotal in leading on several major challenges, including our ambitious campus development and our commitment to becoming one of the βgreenestβ schools in the UK.
βPeter shares our passion for character education and living by the principles of Kurt Hahn, by supporting every child at Gordonstoun to reach their full potential.β
