Richard Huish College hosts first Careerfest featuring over sixty employers and universities

Posted: 13th July 2024

At the end of June, Huish hosted its inaugural Careerfest, a festival-themed careers event aimed at connecting students with diverse employment and progression opportunities.

Each student was given a timetable for the day, enabling them to participate in a careers fair featuring over sixty exhibitors, a range of inspirational employer talks and Q & A sessions. Topics covered in โ€˜mini talksโ€™ included apprenticeships, CV and personal statement writing, gap years, student finance and the science of procrastination.

The event also featured a DJ, Magician, photobooth, ice cream and doughnut vans, and an appearance from the Huish Tiger mascot – an inspiring yet fun day was had by all.

Joanne Mellor, Progression Advisor at Huish shared โ€œCareerFest 2024 was a great day, with engaging sessions and networking opportunities. Students enjoyed the expert-led workshops and panel discussions, while exhibitors reported strong engagement, highlighting CareerFest’s role in supporting our students to explore career and progression options and to make professional connectionsโ€.

Huish would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the event, including sponsors Kennedys Law, Moore Scarrott and Evo Academy. Roll on CareerFest 2025!
