The BSA Foundation was set up three years ago by the BSA Group to provide grants for research projects which will improve the lives of young people in residential settings. https://www.boarding.org.uk/research-grants/.
We are immensely grateful to Helen Wright and Wendy Griffiths for their hard work in helping to set up the Foundation. As they have recently stepped down, we are now looking to appoint a minimum of three new trustees. We would be grateful if you would either consider yourself or pass on to someone you think it would suit in your school or network – perhaps a deputy head, a head of boarding or a housemistress or housemaster (past or present), governor or alumnus who has academic research skills and interests.
We meet online no more than four times a year and most of that work is reviewing research applications before deciding on grants.
In order for the board of trustees to reflect the diverse nature of BSA Group schools, we are ideally looking to ensure there is a balance of female and male trustees, from prep and senior schools, and someone either working in or with experience in an international boarding setting. In terms of skills, we are also looking for someone who has been active in research, perhaps with experience working in a university.
Please send enquiries with the subject BSA Foundation Trustee to Jess McArdle: Jess.McArdle@bsagroup.org.uk
We will then chat further and confirm the process of selection with those who are interested.
