Suffolk is celebrating a series of outstanding athletic achievements recently across hockey, rugby, and football. The school’s commitment to excellence was on full display as both individual teams and players demonstrated skill, determination, and sportsmanship in county-wide competitions.

On the 24th September the girls’ 1st XI hockey team showcased exceptional talent in the England Hockey Tier 4 Suffolk County Round. After impressive victories in the group stage against Woodbridge School and Culford School, the team faced Ipswich School in a suspenseful semi-final. Despite a goalless match, the girls emerged triumphant in a high-stakes shuffle competition, securing their place in the final. With this significant win, they advance to the Tier 3 regional finals later this term, representing one of only two East teams to reach this level.

Following this achievement, the U14 girls’ hockey team delivered a stellar performance on 26th September, capturing the county runners-up title in Tier 2 and earning their place in the regional round. Victories against Ipswich High School, Culford School, and Finborough School highlighted their strength and teamwork.

Adding to the week’s triumphs, the U15 boys’ rugby team won their National Cup fixture against Colchester Royal Grammar School with a commanding score of 40-31. The team displayed early control of the game, with two tries in the first three minutes, and maintained a solid lead until the final whistle.

In another success, the senior boys’ football team secured a win against Woodbridge, contributing to a week filled with multiple RHS sporting victories across the board.

Nick Platt, Director of Sport at Royal Hospital School commented on the sporting success saying: “Our recent performances are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our pupils and staffThe spirit, skill, and resilience shown by all teams has made us incredibly proud, and we look forward to supporting them in their upcoming matches and tournaments.”

With several teams advancing to regional rounds and high hopes for continued success, the Royal Hospital School community celebrates these remarkable achievements in sport.
