As Glenalmond College approaches its 180th year, the formal installation of Jenny Davey as Warden on Sunday 20 September marked a moment of reflection and renewal for the Perthshire school.
The service in the College Chapel was led by the Most Revd Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church. He was joined by the Rt Revd Ian Paton, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane, and by the school’s board, staff, pupils, parents, alumni and guests.
Mrs Davey, who is has worked at Glenalmond since 2009, said: “Being Warden of Glenalmond College is a blessing, an honour and an absolute privilege. The role is about being a guardian of the values of this historic school, and about representing everyone who makes it what it is: the pupils who come here, the parents who place their trust in us, the staff who devote themselves to Glenalmond, and the wider community who have been part of the school’s story for generations.
“I look forward to serving them all, and to helping Glenalmond continue to flourish.”
Professor Basak Akdemir, Chairperson of Glenalmond College, added: “The appointment of a Warden is very important.
“The Warden sets the tone and direction of the College, but just as importantly, has a profound influence on the daily lives and experiences of our students.
“Our new Warden, Mrs Jenny Davey, brings a clear sense of purpose, strong leadership and a genuine understanding of what makes Glenalmond College so special.
“She is someone who values the College’s distinctive character and traditions, while also having the ambition and energy to lead Glenalmond confidently into its next chapter.”
Bishop Strange said: “I was delighted to be at Glenalmond on Sunday to continue the tradition of a new Warden being installed by the Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church. Bringing together spiritual life and learning is as important as ever in this changing world.”
