Kimbolton School, Cambridgeshire, was delighted to welcome former England cricketer and BBC Test Match Special host Jonathan Agnew MBE on Tuesday 2 June for a memorable evening of cricketing gold storytelling and insights.
As part of his current UK theatre tour, Jonathan kindly added a special extra date at Kimbolton School, entertaining guests with reflections on his distinguished career both on the pitch and behind the microphone.
Drawing on more than 30 years as one of the UK’s leading sports broadcasters, he shared fascinating anecdotes from the world of international cricket, alongside topical discussion on the modern game and the many personalities he has encountered throughout his career.
Kimbolton School has a long-standing reputation for the calibre of its cricket and is recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 Schools for Cricket, with its coaching led by another former England fast bowler, PE teacher Alex Tudor.
Commenting, Alex said: “We were honoured to welcome Jonathan to our school for such an enjoyable and inspiring evening. His sharp humour, fascinating storytelling and anecdotes about the world of international cricket captivated the audience throughout. It was wonderful to see pupils, parents, staff and members of the wider community come together to hear from one of cricket’s most recognisable and respected voices speak so passionately about the game.”
Funds raised from the event will support future sports tours at Kimbolton School, including initiatives connected with the school’s chosen South African charity, Inspire Youth.
