Old Swinford Hospitalβs boarding provision has been judged βOutstandingβ in every category for the third consecutive time.Β Ofsted inspected the school in January and has now published its report.
The inspectors found that βboarders make exceptional progress and their confidence, self-esteem and emotional resilience grow.Β Their positive experiences enrich their lives, support their personal development and broaden their future opportunities.β
Over three days, the inspectors met pupils and members of staff, and they spoke with parents and carers.Β They stated that OSH boarders βare inspired to achieve and aim highβ and that a βculture of learning is firmly embedded and underpinned by innovative, research informed practice.βΒ This is particularly pertinent as the 2025/26 academic year is history-making at OSH as itβs the first year we are a fully co-educational school with girls in School and in Boarding from Year 7 through to Year 13.
The full report is available to view on Ofstedβs website.
Headmaster Paul Kilbride, who steps down as Headmaster after 12 years in the summer, commented: βAnother team effort and itβs nice to fly the flag for Englandβs state boarding schools.Β The inspectors were greatly impressed by our pupils, and by our hard-working and deeply committed colleagues.Β Above all else, they were struck by the strong sense of a positive and upbeat community where these young people are known and understood.Β Itβs a big βwell doneβ to everybody involved.β
