Wellington College Education (WCE) is pleased to announce the launch of Wellington College International Kenya, opening September 2028 in Tatu City, in partnership with Rendeavour, Africa’s new city builder. As WCE’s second African school with Rendeavour, following Wellington College International Lagos, this marks a major step forward in the global educational network’s long-term vision to deliver transformative, world class education across Africa, aligned with the values and depth of expertise that define the Wellington College Education family of schools.
A Pan African Educational Network
By expanding from Nigeria to Kenya, Wellington College Education and Rendeavour are building a Pan African network of exceptional schools that bring together East and West Africa through shared values, collective expertise and a bold commitment to shaping the future of the continent. Kenya’s thriving economy, strong digital infrastructure and increasing attraction for global investment make it uniquely positioned to host a school of outstanding international distinction. The partnership with Rendeavour ensures Wellington College International Kenya will sit at the heart of an emerging global standard city—one that attracts ambitious families, international professionals and forward-thinking enterprises.
Students at Wellington College International Kenya will become part of a deeply connected international community spanning Europe, Asia, Africa and – from September 2026 – North America. They will benefit from global collaborations, academic and cultural exchanges, and join the influential Old Wellingtonian alumni network – offering a lifetime of opportunity and a powerful sense of belonging to a truly global educational family.
A Cutting-Edge Campus Bringing Tradition and Innovation Together
Wellington College International Kenya will be a co-educational day and boarding school for 1,500 students, situated on a striking, cutting-edge campus designed to blend modern innovation, Kenya’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, and the timeless traditions of Wellington College. Every facet of the campus is conceived to set a new benchmark for excellence in East Africa, establishing a learning environment that is as inspiring as it is ambitious.
The school will feature state-of-the-art laboratories and technology-enabled learning spaces, intentionally crafted to place AI, digital literacy and innovative thinking at the heart of students’ academic experience. These facilities will encourage intellectual curiosity, advanced problem solving and the confidence to navigate a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Wellington College International Kenya’s world class performing arts facilities will celebrate creativity in all its forms, providing students with spaces worthy of major international schools – from rehearsal studios and ensemble rooms to performance venues that honour both contemporary expression and Kenya’s rich artistic traditions. These environments will nurture confidence, imagination and cultural appreciation.
The school’s grounds will include elite level sports facilities, highlighted by a 50 metre Olympic standard swimming pool, a high-performance athletics track and pitches, as well as specialist training zones designed to support excellence across a range of sports. These resources will promote wellbeing, discipline and aspiration in equal measure.
Throughout the campus, students will have access to dedicated centres for wellbeing, pastoral support and personal development, all designed to help them thrive emotionally, socially and academically. The exceptional boarding houses will offer a warm, nurturing home with strong pastoral structures, creating a secure yet inspiring environment that cultivates independence, friendship and growth.
Students will follow the English National Curriculum, culminating in A Levels, enriched by Wellington College’s pioneering global work in Artificial Intelligence and Human Flourishing. Through this distinctive blend of tradition, innovation and deeply humane education, Wellington College International Kenya will stand as the leading school in East Africa, offering an educational experience unmatched in scope, ambition and quality.
