Loughborough Schools Foundation (LSF) is delighted to announce a new partnership with Longcliffe Golf Club, creating an exceptional opportunity for pupils across the Foundation to develop their skills in one of the region’s premier golfing environments.
The partnership will offer structured coaching for pupils from Year 5 in Fairfield Prep School, through to Year 13 at Loughborough Grammar and Loughborough High Schools, with the programme including after-school coaching clubs. Senior pupils will also have the opportunity to select golf as part of the optional games programme.
During the sessions provided by Longcliffe’s PGA Professional, Ed, full use of the driving range will be exclusively allocated to LSF pupils. All equipment and balls will be provided, ensuring accessibility for beginners as well as those looking to refine their technique. In addition, pupils wishing to further their golf development will be able to join Longcliffe’s junior weekend sessions independently.

Golf is a sport that develops not only technical skill, but also patience and resilience. Having exclusive access to such outstanding facilities and expert coaching will allow our pupils to experience the game in a truly professional setting. We hope this initiative will inspire both experienced golfers and those completely new to the sport.”
Ed Martin, PGA (Professional Golfers Association) Professional at Longcliffe Golf Club, added: “We are thrilled to be working closely with Loughborough Schools Foundation to promote golf to the next generation. By giving pupils dedicated access to our range and structured coaching each week, we can provide them with a consistent and high-quality introduction to the game. Whether they are picking up a club for the first time or already competing, we want to help them build confidence and enjoyment in their golf.”
The connection between LSF and Longcliffe is further strengthened by the appointment of Loughborough Grammar School sports scholar, William Simpkin, as Junior Captain at Longcliffe Golf Club. William was officially appointed at the club’s traditional Captain’s Drive-In ceremony earlier in the year, where captains marched from the clubhouse to the first tee accompanied by bagpipes before teeing off, followed by a celebratory reception.
William is looking forward to his year of captaincy and has ambitious plans to support junior golfers at the club while raising funds for LOROS.
