Taunton School has been named as the Lawn Tennis AssociationΒ (LTA)βs Somerset School of the Year.
TheΒ SchoolΒ was chosen for this award following several parent nominations, which were reviewed and evaluated by expert judges from the Somerset LTAΒ toΒ determineΒ a winner.
The LTA awardsΒ were launched in 2015 with the aim of shining a spotlight on the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals andΒ organisationsΒ across the UK.

This achievement is a testament to our pupilsβ incredibleΒ hard workΒ and the fantastic support we are so grateful to receive from our parent community.β
Shaun, who has worked at Taunton School for 12 years, found himself nominated at this yearβs award for theΒ Somerset Coach of the Year accolade. ThisΒ nominationΒ comes after three of its pupils were selected for the Somerset U9 county team and a regional training event in Basingstoke β a first for Taunton School.
TheΒ SchoolΒ has a strong relationship with the LTA,Β last year welcoming LTA President Sandi Proctor and Somerset TennisΒ ChairmanΒ Andy Fay to its campus, and Shaun CarrollΒ being captain of theΒ Somerset countyΒ team and U12 and U14 teams which have qualified for the upcoming county cup.
Tennis is a core sport at Taunton School withΒ itsΒ provision includingΒ allΒ studentsΒ from ReceptionΒ upwards, with a dedicated pathway available to everyone, and 1:1 and small group coachingΒ on offer as standard.
