Blundell’s School is delighted to announce the appointment of Russell Collins as its new Musician in Residence, with effect from September 2026.

An exceptional musician, teacher and director, Russell brings a wealth of experience from leading music departments in outstanding schools, most recently Wells Cathedral School and Exeter Cathedral School. His appointment will further strengthen Blundell’s already thriving music provision across both the Senior and Prep Schools, enriching an inclusive and high-quality musical experience for pupils at every stage.

Russell is a highly accomplished multi-instrumentalist who began his musical journey at the age of six. He went on to study performance at the University of Birmingham and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Alongside his work in schools, he has enjoyed a varied professional career, performing with orchestras, jazz ensembles, choirs, musical theatre productions and contemporary groups across the UK.

Head of Blundell’s School, Bart Wielenga, commented:

“We are delighted to announce our new Musician in Residence from September 2026. Russell’s breadth of experience, warmth and commitment to musical excellence will be a tremendous asset to our community.”

Blundell’s very much looks forward to welcoming Russell Collins to the school and to the exciting contribution he will make to music across the whole Blundell’s community.
