St Swithun’s, a leading girls’ school in Winchester, has become the pioneering partner for the Bournemouth-based, female-founded sportswear brand Flyhawk.
St Swithun’s was named as the top school for sport in Hampshire in 2025, ranked as the top girls’ boarding school for sport and was in the same year shortlisted for Independent School of the Year in the sporting category. St Swithun’s approach to sport and exercise is one that prioritises girls’ access to all forms of sport and exercise with the aim of creating a positive relationship with movement that will last a lifetime. This collaboration with Flyhawk is designed to get more girls moving, competing and loving sport at every level.
St Swithun’s partnered with Flyhawk for the ethos stitched into every seam: empowering girls, building confidence, and making performance kit something to be proud of. It’s the perfect match: a school committed to empowering young women joining forces with a female-led brand focussed on making sport an even playing field.
Jon Riley, Director of Sport at St Swithun’s said, “Our partnership with Flyhawk has been transformative for the girls. Working with a female-led brand that truly understands the needs of young sportswomen has elevated both the confidence and performance across our senior teams. Flyhawk’s commitment to quality, fit and empowerment has made this collaboration not just a kit supply agreement, but a genuinely positive force within our school community.”
St Swithun’s students are enthusiastic about the new partnership. Ingrid L said, “I think it’s empowering that Flyhawk is a female-founded business. It shows there’s no limit to what women can do. Flyhawk is a really successful brand right now and I think it will inspire other girls, future entrepreneurs and also athletes to start their own business.”
Saskia added, “We love that Flyhawk is a female-led brand, we think it’s really motivating and we can’t wait to see it take us to the next level.”
Stephanie Essex, Managing Director and Owner of Flyhawk, said, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with St Swithun’s, a collaboration that embodies our shared commitment to supporting girls in sport. With Flyhawk being a brand based in the region, it is really important to us to support local schools’ pathway programmes which enable some of the UK’s most talented youngsters to thrive. We are looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
This partnership isn’t just about kit – it’s about creating a culture where girls can push limits, play their best, and look great doing it. – Flyhawk
At St Swithun’s meanwhile the build of a major new indoor sports facility continues. The first phase involves the construction of a tensile roof over four re-sited tennis/three netball courts, as well as a strength and conditioning suite, changing facilities and a spectator gallery. The build is running to schedule and will open in summer 2026.
