Huish proudly welcomed over 300 student athletes from across the South West as it hosted the AoC Sport South West Regional Championships for the third year running. The event, held on October 22nd, showcased an impressive range of sports, with competitors vying for a coveted place at the AoC National Championships in Nottingham, April 2026.
The day featured fierce competition across multiple disciplines, including Men’s and Women’s Rugby, Women’s Football, Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country, Netball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Hockey, and Tennis. The atmosphere was electric as students demonstrated exceptional talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Huish delivered a standout performance in the Cross-Country events, with the Men’s team sweeping the podium, securing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, and a strong 2nd place finish in the Women’s race. The College also celebrated success in racket sports, with three athletes qualifying in Badminton and two in Table Tennis.
“We’re incredibly proud to host this prestigious event once again,” said Mike Ryan, Huish Sport Development Officer. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to compete at a high level and represent their colleges with pride. The level of talent on display was outstanding”.
The AoC Regionals continue into early November, with Basketball, Volleyball, and Cricket still to come. Huish looks forward to supporting its athletes as they aim to secure further qualifications for the Nationals.
