Richard Huish College is delighted to announce a new partnership with Albion Chambers, one of Bristol’s leading barristers’ chambers, as the formal sponsor of Huish Mooting, the college’s prestigious student-led advocacy team.
This sponsorship marks a significant milestone for the Huish Law School, combining financial support, mentorship, and professional coaching from experienced barristers to help students develop the skills needed for success at the Bar and beyond.
Albion Chambers and Huish share a joint passion for widening access to the legal profession and promoting social mobility at the Bar. Through this partnership, students will benefit from:
- Expert coaching and mentoring from practising barristers
- Visits to Albion Chambers for immersive learning experiences
- Support in preparation for national competitions, including the Bar Mock Trial Competition, where Huish Mooting will compete in the South Wales heat at Cardiff Crown Court this November
This collaboration offers real-world advocacy experience for students while allowing Albion Chambers to engage with and support the next generation of legal talent. The relationship is designed to grow over time, with future opportunities for deeper involvement, including workshops, shadowing, and further enrichment activities.
On 16th October the Huish mooting team spent the day in Bristol which included a talk by a circuit judge at Bristol Crown Court, a tour of Albion Chambers and a Q&A with barristers and chambers director.
Nick Jeanes, Chambers Director at Albion Chambers said:
“We are delighted to be supporting this fantastic initiative. The team at Huish Law School have done a brilliant job in providing fantastic facilities for aspiring barristers to learn and develop their skills and we are very proud to be supporting Huish on this journey. We hope this relationship will continue to develop and thrive over the coming years.”
Rowena Mudge, Law Course Manager at Huish, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Albion Chambers as formal sponsors of Huish Mooting. Their support provides our students with invaluable access to professional insight, mentorship, and advocacy training. This partnership is a powerful example of how education and the legal profession can work together to create meaningful opportunities.”
Robert Durdin, Master of Moots at Huish, added:
“This sponsorship is a game-changer for our mooting team. The chance to work directly with barristers from Albion Chambers will elevate our students’ skills and confidence, especially as we prepare for the Bar Mock Trial Competition in Cardiff. We’re excited to see how this relationship develops”.
