Posted: 14th October 2025

Milton Abbey School has made history in the national Independent Schools Football Association Cup, with both the Junior and Senior teams reaching Round Three — their best performance to date!

Milton Abbey School is a small independent boarding and day school in Dorset, known for its strong pastoral care, personalised education, and stunning rural campus. The school offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses, alongside a robust sporting culture. Its Elite Football Programme, run in partnership with Champion Sports Group, provides high-level coaching, fitness training, and match opportunities for talented players aged 13 and up. With excellent facilities and a strong focus on balancing sport and academics, the programme supports students aiming for professional careers or further study, and now includes opportunities for girls following the launch of a dedicated girls’ team.

Milton Abbey School has made footballing history this week, with both the Junior and First XI teams achieving major victories in national Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) competitions. The Junior team reached Round Three of the U15 Cup for the first time in school history, while the First XI pulled off a thrilling 4–3 comeback win to progress to the next round of the ISFA Shield.

In a landmark result, Milton Abbey’s Junior Football Team delivered a superb performance to defeat Marlborough College 2–1 in the ISFA U15 Cup, securing their place in Round Three — the furthest the school has ever progressed in the competition. Every player gave their all in a match full of energy, teamwork, and determination. With so many standout performances, it was impossible to single out just one – the entire squad deserves enormous credit. Meanwhile, Milton Abbey’s First XI produced a remarkable comeback in their opening ISFA Shield fixture away at Cranleigh. Trailing 3–0 at half-time, the team responded with tactical changes and a surge of determination. Goals from Euan J, Middle Sixth, Phanuel A, Lower Sixth, and two goals scored by Zach A, Lower Sixth, turned the game on its head, sealing an unforgettable 4–3 victory.

With the First XI’s next match in the ISFA Shield against Charterhouse (Thursday 16 October) looming large, our Elite Football programme now has a chance to further cement its success. If results continue in this manner, Milton Abbey School will not only have record‑breaking achievements to showcase but will also likely inspire more students (boys and girls) to engage with football, every day at Milton Abbey School.

Milton Abbey School’s football programme stands out for its commitment to developing well-rounded athletes by combining elite-level coaching with strong academic support. Through its partnership with Champion Sports Group, the programme offers a professional training environment, excellent facilities, and tailored guidance to help students reach their full potential both on and off the pitch. Whether aiming for a career in football or simply looking to excel in sport alongside their studies, students benefit from a supportive and ambitious pathway that nurtures talent, discipline, and personal growth.
