Bromsgrove School Pupils Celebrate Outstanding A Level and BTEC Results 2025

Following on from Bromsgrove School’s exceptional IB results at the start of the summer holidays, Bromsgrove’s A level and BTEC students have swept the board with another superb set of results.

This year, 223 Upper Sixth leavers achieved 60% A*/A grades (or equivalent), with 83% A*/B (or equivalent).

In BTEC, sixty-four students achieved 20 Distinction*s and a further 36 Distinctions, meaning that 88% of grades were at least a Distinction.

EPQ results were also impressive, with just under two-thirds of the sixty-one entries gaining at least an A grade. Of the seventeen students who took the new Core Maths qualification alongside their A levels, thirteen achieved one of the top two grades.

Fifty-three IB Diploma students performed superbly, with an average score of 39.81 points – placing Bromsgrove as the second-highest co-educational IB school in the UK. Thirty-nine students scored at least 40 points; of these, six achieved 44 points and five attained the maximum 45 points – a result achieved by fewer than 1% of students worldwide. On the UCAS tariff, the average IB student achieved more than the equivalent of A*A*A*A* at A Level.

Some leavers have secured prestigious degree-level apprenticeships or will begin employment, while the majority are heading to some of the best universities. Here, too, the picture is very encouraging: at the time of writing, some 200 students have gained entry to their first-choice university.

Headmaster, Mr Michael Punt commented: “We warmly congratulate our leavers, and the staff who have supported them, on an exceptional set of results. Some have spent most of their lives at Bromsgrove, while others joined more recently; some have lived locally while others have travelled from across the world to be part of our School family, but all will be greatly missed. We wish them every success and happiness in the years ahead and hope they will always keep in touch. They leave us with bright futures ahead of them.”

Queen Ethelburga’s Celebrates Outstanding A-Level Results

Students and staff at Queen Ethelburga’s are celebrating today after receiving another exceptional set of A Level and BTEC results, reflecting the hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment of the entire school community. QE is a highly popular independent school choice for local families, with nearly 500 day students and 800 boarding students across its student body.

This year’s cohort has achieved an impressive 77% of students achieving A*-A grades and 91% securing A*-B grades. These outcomes continue Queen Ethelburga’s strong tradition of academic excellence.

Students have also been awarded a variety of high profile and esteemed first choice university places achieved at Imperial College London, London School of Economics, Durham, Bath, Sheffield, Nottingham, and Cardiff, amongst other excellent UK and worldwide universities.

Daniel Machin, Principal of Queen Ethelburga’s said: “We are incredibly proud of our students, this year’s cohort has included a huge number of students who have been with us since prep school, along with more recent starters who have made a fantastic contribution to school life. These results reflect their efforts to make the most of all of the opportunities available to them. Thank you to our dedicated teachers and the support of our QE parents and families, without whom none of this would have been possible.”

From September 2025, the Queen Ethelburga’s community are excited to combine the ISA Independent School of the Year (QE Faculty) and the leading school for academic results in the North (QE College), into one exceptional senior school providing an unprecedented range of academic, vocational, sport, performance, creative and co-curricular opportunities, to be named Queen Ethelburga’s College. The senior school will incorporate the GCSE years and the Sixth Form, sitting alongside Chapter House Preparatory School and King’s Magna Middle School, on their modern, well-equipped campus close to York, Harrogate and Leeds. With the opportunity for every student to create their own personalised programme of study, this change takes the very best of what is offered across the two current senior schools and combines this into one outstanding set of opportunities for local, national and overseas children and their families.

This exciting school development announcement is hot on the heels of being identified by The Telegraph as the Best Value co-educational private school in Britain.

Impressive results for neurodivergent students at More House School

Upper Sixth students at Frensham’s More House School have, yet again, overcome the challenges posed by their literacy and developmental language-related weaknesses, and associated special educational needs (SEND), to achieve remarkable success in their public exams and university entry.

Celebrated nationally as a centre of excellence for aspirational special needs education, More House School, near Farnham in Surrey, stands as the UK’s largest specialist school. Now with more than 500 pupils on roll, including a significant number of boarders, the school supports students with literacy and language-based SEND to access an ambitious mainstream, academic curriculum, thriving in response to the school’s innovative approach to bespoke and inclusive adaptive teaching.

The large majority of More House’s Year 13 leavers will now progress to universities, studying courses as diverse as Animation, Architectural Design, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Film Production, Fine Art, Geography, International Business, Mathematics, Music, Photojournalism, Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. They have accepted offers from a breadth of universities, including the University of Oxford and the famous music conservatoire, Trinity Laban. Others have secured apprenticeships or other training pathways, and some have exciting gap-year plans before they take up their offers.

Headmaster, Mr Hetherington, who in addition to his role at More House is about to take up the post of National Chair of the Independent Schools Association, commented “Our students have demonstrated remarkable dedication, perseverance, and commitment to their education, in the face of great disadvantage. They deserve to feel proud of their remarkable achievements.”

Despite 100% of the school’s students facing additional learning challenges, they posted a fantastic 91% pass rate at A’ Level and the equivalent Level 3 BTec qualifications. 72% of certificates awarded to More House students were at grades A* to C or the BTec equivalent Distinction* to Merit. This represents a 20% increase on the school’s 2024 results. 82% of this year’s Upper Sixth candidates are subject to Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs), representing a high level of complexity in terms of their Special Educational Needs. Nevertheless, 100% of BTec candidates passed their courses, and 90% of A’ Level courses secured passes.

Impressively, 22% of A’ Level and BTec results awarded to More House students were at the highest grades of A* and A, or Distinction* and Distinction. 42% of their BTec certificates matched this standard, as did and 13% of More House School’s A’ Level certificates. An incredible 88% of Level 3 BTec results were at Distinction* to Merit (equivalent to A* to C at A’ Level).

Mr Hetherington praised not just his students, but celebrated “the expertise and skill of school staff and volunteers in all roles”, which he recognised as being “a vital component in realising such fantastic outcomes for students”.

More House School is approved by the Council for the Registration of Schools Teaching Dyslexic Pupils (CReSTeD) and is judged to be Outstanding in every category by the government’s school’s inspectorate, Ofsted (March 2023 and December 2024). The school is a registered charity providing places for children with complex special educational needs from nearly 30 local authorities. The school is considered a leader in providing specialist training (including CPD-accredited Level 3 and 4 courses) for teachers, special needs coordinators and school leaders in state-maintained and independent settings across the country.

The outcomes of this summer’s results day reflect More House School’s unwavering dedication to its mission: empowering pupils with SEND to transform their futures. Mr Hetherington stated, “These young people continue to inspire, through their perseverance and growth; the school community sends its congratulations to all students, and wishes them the very best of luck as they embark on the next chapter of their journeys.”

King’s Ely A-Level Results 2025

Hard work, determination, and an outstanding learning environment has culminated in King’s Ely students achieving a stellar set of A-Level grades.

This year, almost one fifth of all A-Level results achieved by King’s Ely Sixth Form students are the top A* grade. Around half of all grades attained are A*-A, and almost three quarters of results are grades A*-B. The overall pass rate is 99.5%

An impressive 92% of the Year 13 cohort achieved an immediate place at their first-choice university or institution, not just in the UK, but across the globe. As a marker of their all-round, enriched education, pupils are going on to study subjects as diverse as Medicine to Fashion Design Innovation, and Maritime Engineering to Artificial Intelligence.

Sixteen students achieved all A* and A grades; eight of whom each achieved at least three A* grades.

Every King’s Ely student holding Oxbridge offers achieved the top grades to take up their places this year. Other popular university destinations include Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, London (UCL), Newcastle, York, and Sheffield.

Year 13 leavers are studying a fascinating and vast array of degrees and courses – as ever, subjects in STEM, Humanities, Languages, and the Arts are strong. Two pupils are going on to study Medicine this year.

Polly Casey, who joined King’s Ely Senior in Year 9, secured her place at New College, University of Oxford to study Music after achieving four A* grades. Polly said: “I did work hard for my exams, but I never thought I would do as well as I have! King’s is an amazing place to study and there are so many things that I will miss, especially the Music Department. I feel King’s gives you the right balance of nurture and freedom to carve your own path, and for you to really be you.”

Leo Good achieved all A grades, securing him a place at University College London to study History. Leo, who has been at King’s Ely since joining Nursery in 2009, said: “I feel like all the revision and late nights have paid off, but I also have my amazing teachers to thank too. They have all been incredibly supportive and always there if I needed them for anything. I could not think of a better place to study than at King’s. I have been here for sixteen years, and I have loved every minute of it!”

Charlotte Senior is heading to the University of Edinburgh to study Mathematics after achieving all A* and A grades. Charlotte, who joined King’s Ely Senior in Year 10, said: “I am so excited for Edinburgh! I love King’s and I will miss my friends, my teachers, and the entire school community so much, but I also feel well prepared for the next chapter.”

Xander Tong, who joined King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep in Year 2, achieved all A* and A grades, and is going to be studying Physics with Astrophysics at Lancaster University. Xander said: “King’s has been amazing. I think what really stands out for me is that my teachers have all been genuinely interested in me as an individual, and not just about my studies and results, but in my personal growth too.”

Jonathan Shaw, Head of King’s Ely Senior, said: “Congratulations and well done to our Year 13s on some exceptional exam results. An impressive number of pupils have achieved three or more A* grades, but most importantly, many have exceeded their own personal expectations. As a year group, they have contributed in so many ways to school life and thoroughly deserve their success. They leave King’s, not only with some impressive academic qualifications but as well-rounded individuals who we are confident have the character and sense of responsibility to make a difference in whatever path they choose next. Thank you to the whole King’s Ely community who have supported and guided our pupils through to Year 13, wherever they started their journey.”

As well as offering almost thirty different A-Level courses, King’s Ely also enables pupils to study vocational Level 3 Diploma qualifications in Business Studies, and Food and Nutrition. This year, three quarters of students achieved at least a Distinction, a third of which were a Starred Distinction.

This year, thirty-two students also completed Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs) in addition to their A-Level subjects, which are equivalent to 50% of an A-Level. More than three quarters of students achieved an A*-B grade.

John Attwater, Principal of King’s Ely, said: “We are really delighted with our students’ exam results today. While it is gratifying to know that, as a school, we have exceeded all the national benchmarks for A-Levels by some way, it is even better that virtually all our students are now embarking on their first-choice future pathway, and all have exciting futures ahead. It has been wonderful to celebrate with them today and to see such a breadth of ambition fulfilled through their own hard work and the support of their teachers and other staff. I am so pleased that they will be keeping in touch with us and taking the King’s Ely ethos far and wide.”

St Leonards Pupils Celebrate Excellent BTEC and IB Career-related Programme Results

St Leonards School is proud to celebrate another year of exceptional results for its Career-related Programme (CP) pupils, with this year’s graduating IBCP cohort achieving an impressive average UCAS tariff points score of 163 – higher than the equivalent of A*AA at A Level or AAA at Advanced Higher.
Importantly, 100% of pupils graduating from the IBCP are progressing to university courses across Scotland, England, and internationally, reflecting the breadth of opportunities the Career-related Programme opens up. Pupils will progress to universities including Hult International Business School, Iowa State University, Furman University, and Glasgow Caledonian University, among others.

A particular highlight is Violeta, who achieved our highest ever UCAS tariff points score from the CP: an extraordinary 242 points, equivalent to five A grades at A Level or three A grades at Advanced Higher and three A grades at Higher. Her Reflective Project examined the complex copyright issues created by AI-generated music and the impact on artists and the wider music industry, combining academic rigour with contemporary relevance. Violeta will progress to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the autumn.

Violeta and her classmate Kira, both of whom joined St Leonards from Ukraine in 2022, have made remarkable progress in just two years. Both have successfully balanced excellence in their IB subjects with the vocational demands of the BTEC in Business, whilst also contending with a move to a new country during their formative school years.

Two pupils, Ewen and Julian, will now take their sporting talents to the United States, playing college golf at Division 1 universities – the highest level of collegiate golf. Their outstanding academic results are matched by their dedication to honing their skills in the St Leonards Golf Academy. In addition to gaining entry to their universities, both were awarded golf scholarships, demonstrating their excellence both on the course and in the classroom.

The BTEC in Business, at the heart of the IB Career-related Programme at St Leonards, is studied alongside two or three IB Diploma subjects, enabling pupils to combine academic challenge with practical, career-focused skills. All CP pupils also complete a core programme designed to prepare them for the world of work and higher education.

Ben Seymour, IBDP/CP Coordinator, said of the BTEC and IBCP success: “We are incredibly proud of these pupils, the fourth graduating cohort from the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) at St Leonards.

Each pupil has used the programme to develop their academic knowledge and to work on skills such as communication, team-work, organisation, and planning. They have also used the programme as a means to allow them to further their passions, whether that has meant time on the golf course, performing in orchestras, horse riding, or training for MMA.
This is a diverse group of young people who leave St Leonards ready and incredibly well prepared to face the challenges of the wider world”

The CP at St Leonards continues to grow in popularity, with the 2025–2027 cohort set to be the largest yet. This year’s results show not only individual brilliance but also the strength of the programme as a whole.

Bryanston Pupils Celebrate Results

Congratulations to Bryanston’s outgoing A2 (Upper Sixth) year group, who received an outstanding set of A Level and CTEC results today. 95 per cent of pupils applying to university this year secured a place at one of their top choices, with 87 per cent being accepted by their firm choice destination. One in nine of all A Level grades awarded were at A* with 88 per cent of all grades awarded A*-C, which is the highest percentage since 2016 (excluding Covid) highlighting the dedication and hard work of this year group.

Our pupils who studied the CTEC qualification, which is a more vocational pathway equivalent to two A Levels, also achieved a fantastic set of results. Most took these alongside A Levels, with 50 per cent of the cohort achieving double Distinctions (either D*D or DD) which equates to gaining A*A (104 points) or AA (96 points) at A Level.

This success builds on the school’s IB results in July, in which pupils achieved an average successful Diploma score of 34 points, significantly higher than the global mean of 30.58.

Continuing Bryanston’s long-standing reputation for outstanding university destinations, our pupils have submitted applications to 14 countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and beyond. Our pupils will take up places this September at a wide range of Universities including the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and Columbia (US).

Equally as impressive is the diverse range of subjects they will be studying from Liberal Arts at Bristol to Industrial Design at Loughborough and from Fine Art at Edinburgh to Medical Engineering at Southampton.

It is also wonderful to see a significant number of pupils pursuing courses in Business and Entrepreneurship, along with those joining leading Music, Art, Drama and Film schools. This reflects their diverse interests and the school’s focus on Entrepreneurship and the Performing Arts.

Head Richard Jones commented: “Congratulations to all our A2 pupils on your A Level, IB, and CTEC results. Your achievements show there is no single ‘type’ of pupil at Bryanston. Our personalised, university-style approach to education has enabled all of you to flourish in your own way. It is equally inspiring to see the breadth of talent in this year group – including sportsmen and women, dancers, DJs, actors, and musicians – who have thrived academically while making the most of Bryanston’s rich co-curricular opportunities.”

Liz Thornton, Head of Sixth Form, added: “These results are a testament to an exceptional group of young people who are dedicated to achieving their own goals. It’s wonderful to see so many securing university places of their choice and pursuing such a wide range of pathways beyond Bryanston. This reflects the depth and diversity of our Sixth Form offering.”

The exam results are the culmination of a year of impressive academic and sporting successes for students who have also represented their country at academic Olympiads and in various sports.

This year’s cohort of students has secured places at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, Russell Group universities and notable institutions and conservatoires, including the University of Warwick, University College London, the University of Exeter and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. They will go on to study a wide range of subjects at their chosen universities such as English Literature, Law, History of Art, Biomedical Sciences, Natural Sciences (Physical), Dentistry, Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine.

Highlights:

  • 45 students achieved three grades at A* – A
  • 53.3% of grades were A*/A
  • 81.7% of grades were A*- B

Principal Richard Girvan congratulated the students on their achievements and commended them for their hard work and commitment during their time at the school: “As ever, we are tremendously proud of our students’ achievements with an increase to 53.3% of grades at A*/A and 81.7% at A*/B. The university destinations are as varied as they are impressive, with our students securing places at some of the world’s top universities, here in the UK and beyond. Of particular importance to us is the large number of students in our sixth form who are able to benefit from what we provide, and achieve so highly, as a result of financial assistance in the form of bursaries and scholarships. As our students enter the next stage of their lives, we know that they will continue to draw on the valuable life skills and experiences that they have gained throughout their time at Stephen Perse Cambridge.”

Stephen Ward, Vice-Principal and Head of 11–18 at Stephen Perse Cambridge, elaborated: “Our students’ eagerness to learn has been a joy to experience and their achievements are a testament to both their academic ability and their commitment to their studies. I am sure they will continue to excel and look forward to hearing about their contributions to tomorrow’s world.”

Amongst the young people at Stephen Perse Cambridge celebrating their success this year is Uk

rainian student, Viktor Z, one of Stephen Perse Cambridge’s Conflict Bursary Award holders. Viktor will be going to either Bristol University to study Economics and Finance, or Manchester University to study Management. He explained the impact of the bursary: “My bursary helped me so much, it gave me an opportunity to uncover my academic potential that I wouldn’t have uncovered in a less supportive school. My message to donors: What you are doing is amazing, the impact that it has on our world and bright young people is unbelievable.”

Students at Stephen Perse Cambridge Sixth Form benefit from specialist teaching, small classroom sizes, personalised pastoral care and tailored student support to help them reach their potential. Alongside taking three or four A Levels from a rich and varied curriculum, students pursue the Extended Project Qualification (equivalent to half an A Level) or a Stephen Perse project, and benefit from unique enrichment options such as Critical Thinking, or a Modern Language qualification to enhance their educational journey. In recent years, students have joined Stephen Perse Sixth Form on 100% fully funded bursaries from North Cambridge Academy, in a ground-breaking partnership between the schools that is generously sponsored by Costello Medical (a local high-growth business).

Excellent results empower Tudor Hall’s UVI girls to reach top courses and diverse destinations

Tudor Hall School’s Upper Sixth (Year 13) achieved examination results, released today, that will seal their entry into a range of highly competitive courses and destinations.

The vast majority have achieved places at their first-choice destination, including top universities such as UCL, Durham, Exeter, York, Bristol and Newcastle.

The diversity of destinations and courses is particularly striking, with girls achieving places at prestigious institutions that include Glasgow School of Art, the Royal Agricultural University and Cordwainers at London College of Fashion. Among the individuals who gained three A*/A grades or equivalent, Tudor girls are taking up places to study PPE at Durham, Architecture at UCL, Theatre and Film at Bristol and Biomedical Science at Durham. The strength in depth of the girls’ achievements sees them studying a wide range of subjects including Art History & Curating, Psychology, Ceramics and Master of Nursing.

41% of all grades at Tudor Hall School are at A*-A or equivalent, well above the national average (28.3%), with 78% at A*-B.

Headmistress, Julie Lodrick said:

“I am so pleased for this year’s cohort of Tudor girls who have achieved so highly in their examinations as well as in every element of boarding school life. The diversity of pathways their hard work and commitment has opened up is breathtaking; a real testament to the plethora of skills and opportunities they have grasped with both hands while at Tudor. It is also testament to the dedication, expertise and resolve of all our Tudor staff who go above and beyond to support our girls at every step.

We know these Tudor girls can step into the bright futures that lie ahead of them with both confidence and humility, ready to give of themselves and contribute to society in every possible way.

Their teachers and I are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and the impressive young women that they have become. I look forward to hearing of their successes and achievements and, of course, welcoming them back to Tudor as valued members of our OT community in the coming years.”

Individual success

Among those girls who achieved all A*/A grades is Froggy who will be studying PPE at Durham University. “I am thrilled with my results and very excited to be going to Durham next year. I am so grateful to all my teachers – none of this would have been possible without their constant support. Thank you to everyone at Tudor for helping me achieve these results.”

Miranda achieved A*AA and says “I’m so incredibly happy and grateful to the teachers who helped me secure my place at my firm choice, UCL. Looking back, A-levels were such a huge amount of work, but I feel so lucky to have had an amazing support network – from my friends to the library that became my second home. I truly couldn’t have done it without them. UCL has always been my absolute dream university for studying architecture, and the thought of becoming a student there still feels so surreal. I couldn’t be more excited or more thankful!”

Pippa will be taking up a place to study Biosciences at Durham. “I am thrilled with my results and delighted to confirm my place at Durham University. I am so grateful to my amazing teachers and the Tudor Hall team for helping and inspiring me over the last seven years. It is both exciting and a little daunting not to be returning to Tudor in September, but I am ready to embrace this new chapter with all the curiosity, resilience, and passion for learning that Tudor has instilled in me.”

Sophie, who will be taking up her Education Studies place at Oxford Brookes next year, said: “I loved being a student at Tudor Hall and I am so grateful for the support I have had.”

St. Teresa’s Sixth Form students are celebrating some spectacular A-Level results.

The class of 25 did themselves, their teachers and their parents proud when results were released and university places confirmed yesterday. We are delighted to announce that 52% of the year group secured A*/A and 98% achieved their university place (with 42% of students exceeding their required offer). Moreover, a hugely impressive 56% will be taking up places at Russell Group universities. There are many, many extraordinary success stories to celebrate including Amelia SM who achieved A*A*A*A* and is looking forward to taking up her place at Durham. Two of our students will be embarking on a degree in Medicine: Chloe H whose A*A*A is her passport to St George’s and Charlie J whose clutch of As will take her to Queen’s Belfast. In addition, Beth M – who secured A*A*AA – will take up a place to read Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham. Candice L is poised to pursue Mathematics and Data Science at LSE having achieved A*A*A*A and Andrea L’s A*AAA has confirmed her place to undertake Finance at King’s College London. We are especially thrilled that our A Level value added score places us in the top 15% of schools within the UK.

These statistics belie the story of a year group that has, throughout their school career, demonstrated commitment, resilience and an array of skills and talents. Indeed, the courses they are going on to pursue span the traditional and innovative and include disciplines ranging from Law, History, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Film Studies, Neuroscience, Fashion Studies, Liberal Arts, American Studies, English Literature and Dance. Reflecting on her results today, one very happy student noted, “My success was due to the smaller Sixth Form classes and the connection I had with my teachers.”  Equally happy parents referenced the bespoke Careers support that has made all the difference to their daughter’s next step. Toby Clouston – Director of Sixth Form – distilled the thoughts and feelings of many which have marked out this very special day. “We are all so proud of these exceptional results: our students worked incredibly hard and have rightly been rewarded with life-changing A Level grades. They are poised to take up places at some of the most prestigious universities in the country and we wish them all the very best for the next stage of their academic journey.”

Congratulations to every student, you deserve all your success!

Rossall Sixth Formers celebrate with another year of outstanding results

Rossall School’s commitment to academic excellence continues to yield outstanding outcomes for its students with yet another set of fantastic public examination results across all three distinctive curricular routes on offer.

Earlier this Summer, students enrolled upon the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme achieved the best ever set of IB results. A 36 point average places Rossall amongst the very top IB schools in the UK. An impressive number of students achieved 40 points or above, and, amongst them, 10% of the cohort achieved 44 points out of a possible 45 – a feat achieved only by 1% of candidates globally each year.

This morning it was time for those students who have spent the last two years studying for A levels and/or BTEC qualifications to celebrate their successes. Indeed,

Across all qualifications, just under half of all grades awarded to Rossall students this summer were A* or A.
70% of A-Level / BTEC grades were A* – B
42% of A-Level / BTEC grades were A* or A

In terms of UCAS points, over 60% of the Upper Sixth Form cohort at Rossall have come away from their examinations with the equivalent of AAB (at A level) or above.

Furthermore, as expected, a considerable number of students have achieved a clean sweep of  ‘A*’ and ‘A’ grades in 3 or 4 subjects and this, alongside results that consistently, year on year, are well above the national average of top grades confirms Rossall’s unwavering commitment to an outstanding education leading to exceptional results.

Every year Rossall students progress to some of the most prestigious university courses here within the UK. This year is no exception, and this autumn Rossall students will begin undergraduate studies at Cambridge, Oxford, London School of Economics, Warwick, Bath, Durham, York, Manchester and many other top UK institutions. They will study an extraordinarily diverse range of subjects including English Literature, Business Management, Psychology, Economics, Sport and Exercise Science, Mathematics, Law, Engineering, Medicine, Music, Graphic Design, and Architecture. A considerable number of our students are moving on to study at some of the most academically sought after institutions in destinations around the world including Italy, Sweden, Hong Kong, America, Austria and Germany.

This has been the most successful year for Golf and Football Scholarships to American Universities, with no fewer than 10 students (nearly 10% of the cohort) securing prestigious places and joining the ever-growing number of Rossallians in this part of the world. Two students have accepted places at Conservatoires, including Guildhall, and another will join a drama school in Manchester.

Additionally, students have secured places on highly competitive degree apprenticeship programmes at BAE Systems and WSP. Their success is reflective of an industrious culture amongst the student body as well as the multiple opportunities available at Rossall to develop the social and communication skills necessary to succeed in some of the most successful international companies.

Individual successes

Whilst many students will be celebrating achieving the ambitious goals they have set for themselves, James Chou and Michael Tang stand out for their truly exceptional achievements.

Michael, the school’s top performer, boasts an impressive three A* grades, and his exceptional design work will be on display in school alongside that of his peers. Rossall’s Art & Design faculty continues to support pupils in achieving exceptional results, with two thirds of grades at A level achieving an A* or an A. James, an academic scholar, achieved A*,A*,A, A in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry and is off to pursue his long-standing passion in Mathematics.

Joe Hayes, another of Rossall’s academic scholars, achieved an impressive A*A*A in English Literature, Psychology and Politics and is about to commence his degree in English Literature at Oxford University. Having joined us in the Sixth Form from a local school, Joe contributed a huge amount to the school community through his role as Deputy School Captain as well as being co-chair of the Farrell Society. The other co-chair of the Farrell Society, a literature-based pupil-led society that has a huge impact on the intellectual culture of the school, this year is Carlota Pascual-Simpson, who achieved an incredible 43 out of a possible 45 points in the International Baccalaureate diploma earlier this summer. Carlota is delighted to be taking up a place at Cambridge to study English Literature also.

Following a brief stint at Rossall in Year 10, Luisa returned from Germany for the Sixth Form citing the opportunities to push herself academically in subjects of real interest and passion for her. Achieving A*AAB in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, she joins an increasing number of Old Rossallians at University College London choosing to study Theoretical Physics.

Kate Irving has been an incredible role model throughout her time in the Sixth Form. She represented the School at Hockey and Netball, whilst helping to establish a wellbeing programme and leading whole-school initiatives (such as Kindness grids and Wellbeing Week). She was a Senior Monitor, Deputy House Captain of Dolphin and a formidable agent for change within the School community. She went on the School’s second ever trip to Ghana, as well as taking a lead in the Charity Committee. Having secured AAB at A-Level, Kate will take up a place at York to study Sociology and Social Psychology.

Jorja Nickson, with the equivalent of ‘AAB’ was awarded an unconditional scholarship to a leading theatre school, Performers College in Manchester. Jorja’s unwavering commitment to the performing arts at Rossall has led to some stellar productions in which she has been cast in leading roles in Anything Goes, Frozen, Annie and Grease. Jorja has been an inspiring role model, both in her role as Senior Monitor and in supporting many young aspiring actors through the school’s thriving Saturday Broadway Academy.

Louisa Bradburn has not only achieved superb academic grades, A*AA in Physics, Biology and Chemistry respectively, but has represented the School across all sports at 1st team level. She has performed at Open Mic nights, represented the School in academic competitions, and is a definitive all-rounder. She is currently working as a Gap Student in New Zealand, before pursuing a Science-related degree in 2026.

Adnan Miakhel, our First XI Cricket Captain, arrived in the UK from Afghanistan, with no formal education and limited English. Through absolute persistence and dedication, he has worked tirelessly, alongside his teachers, and has received his Extended BTEC Diploma. He has managed this alongside his commitments playing for Lancashire Second XI and starring in the BBC’s ‘Field of Dreams’. Adnan has been an inspiration to so many and will continue to be so as he heads to Australia later in the year to play cricket.

Daria Pryimak joined Rossall in Year 11 from Ukraine, with very limited English and with no certainty about when she might be able to return to her country. Showing incredible resilience and determination, Daria has been hugely successful in achieving A*A*C in Art, Graphics and Mathematics. Daria is excited to now pursue a stellar design career, taking up a place at Loughborough to study Urban Planning.

Headmaster, Andrew McBride, said: “I am delighted to congratulate our students on an outstanding set of achievements. These results are not just the product of individual talent, but of months and years of dedication, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity.
“I must also pay tribute to the commitment and teaching expertise of our colleagues here at Rossall, whose guidance and support have inspired our students to aim high and fulfil their potential. Equally, I recognise the vital role played by our families and wider community, whose belief in our young people makes such success possible.

“Above all, the determination, resilience, and character shown by our Year 13 students embody the very best of the Rossall spirit. These qualities will serve them well in their future studies and careers, and they are the same values that will continue to guide our school as we strive for even greater success in the years ahead.

“This year’s results also reflect the strength, ambition, and leadership within our Sixth Form, reaffirming its place as a true centre of excellence at the heart of the Rossall community.”

Head of Sixth Form, Nick Crombie, said: “I am so proud of this year’s cohort who have achieved excellent results across all of our pathways.

“This is testament to the dedication and commitment of each individual, and the tireless support they have received from their teachers.

“However, it is the individual stories behind the grades that I find the most inspiring – Rossall is a place where value is truly added to each person and this is evident in the broad and exciting range of destinations this cohort moves on to.”

Pride, Passion and Performance: Prior’s Field Celebrates the Class of 2025

The Class of 2025 at Prior’s Field has achieved outstanding A-level results, with 27% A*–A and 65% A*–B, reflecting their hard work, resilience, and individuality.

At Prior’s Field, we believe that every student’s journey is unique and shaped by their talents, determination, and the support of a community that celebrates individuality. The Class of 2025 has once again shown what it means to aim high and shine brightly, with this year’s A-level results marking a moment of pride and joy for the whole school.

We are delighted to share that our students achieved 27% A*–A and 65% A*–B, both an increase on last year’s results. These outcomes reflect not only academic excellence, but also the deep commitment, resilience, and creativity our students bring to all they do.

Among the many successes is Sharanya one of our outgoing Deputy Head girls, who this summer completed her seven-year journey at Prior’s Field with an outstanding set of results A, A, A in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Sharanya will be reading Medicine at the University of Southampton, a testament to her dedication, intellect, and consistent hard work throughout her time here. Her unwavering focus and quiet determination have inspired those around her, and we are thrilled to see her take the next step towards a career of care and service.

Our Head Girl, Arabella, has also been part of the Prior’s Field family since Year 7. It has been a privilege to watch her flourish from her very first day to her last, growing into a confident, capable young woman who leads with warmth and integrity. This year she achieved A, B, B in Art and Design, Business, and Psychology, and will go on to study Fashion Marketing at the University of Leeds. Arabella’s creative vision and entrepreneurial spirit will no doubt serve her well. She will be joined at Leeds by our Deputy Head Girl, Juliette, a fitting continuation of their shared leadership journey.

We also celebrate Matilda, whose love of literature and keen analytical mind have shaped her time at Prior’s Field. Matilda will take these qualities forward to the University of Exeter, where she will study English Literature – a course perfectly matched to her passion for words and ideas.

Beyond these individual stories, the Class of 2025 will be heading to universities across the UK to study a wide range of subjects. Destinations include Durham University to read Criminology, Swansea University for Business Management, Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Loughborough, Veterinary Medicine and Science at University of Surrey and other courses ranging from Fashion to Theology and Religion, Medicine, and Politics and Economics. This breadth of ambition reflects the individuality of our students and the diverse paths they will follow.

Three quarters of university places secured are at Russell Group/Top 20 universities

Record percentage of students take STEM subjects, with three quarters of all A Level grades at A*-B, and 41% at A*/A

22 students celebrate up to 5 straight A*/A grades

It is a day of celebration and excitement at New Hall School in Chelmsford, as Year 13 students receive their A Level results, marking another year of outstanding academic achievement and dedication. After months of anticipation, the cohort gathered with teachers, friends and family, to mark this significant milestone in their educational journey.

At New Hall, an impressive 41% of all A Level grades are at A*/A. Three quarters of all grades awarded are A*-B. In a New Hall record, almost 80% of students secured their first-choice universities.

Principal, Mrs Katherine Jeffrey, who this year celebrates 23 years of Headship, becoming the longest serving Head of New Hall and in HMC, said: “It is a joyful morning at New Hall, celebrating one of our best ever sets of A Level results. Records have been set, with 80% of New Hall students securing their first-choice university, and with over half of the A Level successes being in STEM subjects. A remarkable 22 students are celebrating up to 5 straight A*/A grades. All the teaching and senior staff were in School from 7.30am, waiting to greet our families and to celebrate with them on this special day. We could not be more proud of our students, and our inspirational and dedicated team of teachers. As well as achieving academic excellence, this cohort has also embraced the full breadth of life at New Hall – excelling in sport, the performing arts, leadership roles and service in their community. We are excited for this next chapter, for our outgoing Year 13.”

Vice Principal, Dr Paul Tiffen commented, “New Hall is renowned for its Performing & Creative Arts, with these Departments celebrating 100% at A*-B grades, with around half of these at A*/A. Other notable successes were in Modern Languages, with 57% of grades at A*/A. I am delighted to see New Hall Languages flourishing, against the national trend in these subjects. 43% of New Hall Modern Languages results are at A*, demonstrating the strength of our award-winning Modern Languages Programme, which integrates the teaching of French and Spanish with practical applications, such as cookery.”

The results from our boarding students are particularly impressive, with a superb 59% of their grades at A*/A and 81% of grades at A*-B. Romilly Ireland, Head Girl, boarder and alumna of St Cedd’s School, Chelmsford, gained three A* grades and is excited to start her studies of History (Ancient and Modern) at Balliol College, Oxford. Romilly said: “I am really excited for this next step. The biggest part of my school life has been boarding – the support, both academically and emotionally, from the boarding staff has always made New Hall feel like a home away from home. I cannot stress enough the value of the incredible opportunities I have had here!”

Director of Boarding, Mr Samuel Carroll, said: “I am pleased to see New Hall boarders leading the School’s rankings, with 81% of their grades at A*-B, and 59% at A*/A. Around half of our Sixth Form are boarders, in preparation for university. We are also seeing a significant increase in boarding interest from younger year groups, with New Hall boarding numbers growing recently to 465. 80 Prep children have just completed a fabulous residential summer school at New Hall. I have no doubt that boarding helps children grow in confidence, and gives them additional opportunities in support of their academic studies.”

The History Department has had exceptional results this year. Mr Paul Goulding, Head of Sixth Form & Oxbridge Co-ordinator, said: “Founded in 1642, and as the UK’s second oldest Catholic school, it is fitting that History remains one of the strongest Departments at New Hall, with 54% of grades at A*/A and 96% at A*-B. Head Girl, Romilly Ireland, alumna of St Cedd’s School, Chelmsford, continues the New Hall tradition of History graduates at Oxbridge, achieving 3A*s and an A in her EPQ, securing her place at Balliol College, Oxford, to read History (Ancient & Modern). Other Oxbridge successes include Oliver Hall, alumnus of The Christian School Takeley, Bishop’s Stortford, who today secures his place at Magdalene College, Cambridge, to read Computer Science. We were also excited to hear Oxbridge graduation news from New Hall alumni (Old Fishes): Olivia Khattar, alumna of Widford Lodge Preparatory School, Chelmsford, achieved the top First at Cambridge in Theology, Religion & Philosophy of Religion, from Gonville & Caius College; Niamh Wright, alumna of New Hall Preparatory Division, Chelmsford, graduated with a 2:1 in Theology & Religion from Keble College, Oxford; and William Bidwell, alumnus of Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School, Chelmsford, who rowed in Exeter College’s Men’s First VIII, graduated with a 2:1 in History.”

Henry Li, alumnus of Little Hallingbury School, Bishop’s Stortford, was one of the School’s highest achievers, gaining three A* grades and one A, securing his place to read Economics at Durham University. Henry shared: “My time at New Hall has been inspirational, eye-opening and fun. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have had here.”

Downside School celebrates excellent A level and BTEC results

Downside School warmly congratulates this year’s Upper Sixth pupils on their excellent examination results.

As a cohort, they have made an exceptional contribution to the school community while making the most of the calm and purposeful environment found in the new Sixth Form Centre. They set an excellent example by immersing themselves in subjects for which they had a genuine passion, and these results reflect their determination and commitment as well as their diverse interests.

Downside’s philosophy has always been to ensure that pupils make full use of their talents, whether in the classroom, in the creative arts, in leadership, on the sports field or in other arenas. This year, there have been some truly remarkable performances: one fifth of the year group achieved three or more grades at A*/A (or equivalent) in their examinations. Overall, 30% of all grades awarded were A*/A. Further Mathematics pupils excelled, with 80% achieving A*; Religious Studies pupils achieved 100% A*- B; and BTEC Sports Diploma pupils achieved 100% Distinction*- Distinction. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) continues to thrive at Downside, with 88% of candidates achieving an A* or A for projects ranging from the small boat crisis and fast fashion, to ancient Chinese jurisprudence and the Penlee lifeboat disaster. For the second year in a row, entries included a musical composition, this time a concerto based on the last three days of Christ’s life.

Retiring Head, Andrew Hobbs, said, “I want to congratulate all this year’s cohort on their incredible achievements and wish them every success in their next steps. Their contribution to Downside has been wonderfully positive and I know that they will continue to enrich the lives of those around them in the future. A final word of thanks must, of course, go to the teachers and tutors who have worked so hard in support of our pupils to achieve these results.”

Interim Head of Downside School, Mike Randall, said, “This is an excellent set of results, not only in the grades themselves, but in the character and commitment that have led to them. In particular, I would like to acknowledge Charlie’s success in securing his place to read Economics at Cambridge University, Ella’s place to read Medicine at Leeds University, Oliver’s place to read Veterinary Medicine ,and Alberto’s outstanding achievement in being awarded four A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. The achievements do not stop there. This year, as usual, Downside pupils have won places to study a wide range of subjects at leading universities, including Law at Durham, Geography at Exeter, Sports Management at Bath, English at York, Social Anthropology at Edinburgh and History at Newcastle, to name just a few. We also acknowledge that not everyone has achieved the results they had hoped for, and it is important to recognise their feelings and provide them with support. Examination results are significant for each individual’s journey but, as we all know, they do not define a person. These young men and women have navigated extraordinary challenges in their education and have embraced every opportunity to develop their talents. They now leave Downside ready to contribute with energy, skill and purpose to the world beyond school.”

The whole Downside community joins in congratulating this year’s leavers and wishing them every success in the next stage of their journey.

A Levels Open Doors Worldwide for Worksop College Leavers

From engineers to future Lionesses, artists, and musicians, Worksop College pupils are celebrating an exciting new chapter as they collect their A Level results. This year’s cohort has once again achieved an impressive spread of top grades, with the proportion of A*-A, A*-B, and A*-C results continuing the record-breaking standards set last year and exceeding national and regional averages. As a broad-ability school committed to bringing out the best in every pupil, Worksop College is proud to see leavers securing places at some of the UK’s leading universities, alongside opportunities overseas, with none needing to enter Clearing. Whether heading to study in London, Abu Dhabi, the United States, or beyond, the Class of 2024/25 is set to make its mark.

The day began with excitement as classmates Ben Hartog and Giles Phinn opened their envelopes. Ben achieved an A* in Psychology, A* in PE, and A in History and will be heading to Exeter University to study Sports Science, while Giles celebrated his A* in History, A in Economics, B in Classical Civilisation, and A in EPQ, securing his place at The University of Sheffield to study Economics. Captains of School Grace Galbraith and Dan Recaldin both secured a spot at their chosen universities, the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University. Vice-Captain of School, David Lorer, a full international boarder who joined on an HMC Scholarship – awarded to pupils who demonstrate ability, adaptability, and a readiness to embrace life in a new country – was equally delighted with his results. Already the Under-18 International Bridge Champion, David achieved a string of A*s and As, alongside his EPQ, and will continue his global education at New York University in Abu Dhabi, studying a Liberal Arts degree. Fellow vice-Captain Bella Dujon is also off to her first choice at the University of Manchester to read History & Sociology.

Our Girls’ Football Academy graduates achieved academic success alongside their success on the field. Grace Perry joined Worksop College specifically to be part of the Girls’ Football Academy, which allows talented players to pursue the sport alongside their studies. Between training, playing and qualifying as a referee, Grace has managed to secure an A* in Physics, A* in Maths, A* in Geography, and A in Further Maths. She will take up a place at the University of Sheffield to study General Engineering. Her teammates were also celebrating. Amy Cotton achieved an A in PE, B in Psychology, and B in Religious Studies, and will be flying to the USA to continue her football career alongside studying, while Chloe Salisbury secured an A* in PE, B in Psychology, and B in Maths, and is also heading stateside. French international boarder Mia Turner, who joined the Football Academy from France and now plays for Derby County, exceeded her baseline grades by six grades and is excited to remain in the UK to study Sport and Exercise Science.

The sporting celebrations didn’t stop there. Cricketer Jay Singh, who was recently selected for the England U19 squad, joined Worksop College in the Lower 6th with a dream of playing professionally for Yorkshire. Here, Jay found a platform to thrive thanks to 1:1 coaching, tailored strength and conditioning, and academic flexibility. His Distinction* in CTEC Business, B in PE, and C in Geography will enable him to continue his cricketing ambitions while training in Primary Education at Leeds Beckett University. Fellow cricketer Owen Smith, part of the Yorkshire 2nd XI, matched Jay’s results and will also combine higher education with his sport. In netball, Libby Davidson, Captain of the School Team and a Loughborough Lightning player, surpassed her baseline grades by five, achieving Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction in the BTEC Sport Extended Diploma. She will be heading to the University of Birmingham to study Sports Coaching.

From the sports pitches to the stage and studio, creativity was equally rewarded this year. Head of Chapel Choir, Leader of the College Orchestra and classical dancer Laurena Kumar-Lee – who holds the Associate of the Royal Schools of Music (ARSM) diploma in singing and plays the piano and violin to a very high standard – achieved a string of A grades and is planning an exciting gap year before her next steps, Laurena has just returned from the Sherborne Summer School of Music, where she was soloist. Musicians Sam Mitchinson and Christian Aldridge were also celebrating; Christian, a Grade 8 pianist and percussionist who is a regular with the National Schools Symphony Orchestra, will now study percussion at the Royal College of Music, London. Sam, who holds the DipABRSM in singing alongside Grade 8 Organ, is currently a Choral Scholar at Newark Parish Church and will now take up a scholarship to study singing at the Royal Academy of Music. Art results were 100% A*-A, and Ellie Hancox will take her A* in Art to Loughborough University to study Fine Art, while Katie Wall, also achieving an A*, is set to study Fine Art at the University of Manchester.

Not all pupils choose the university route – another leaver opting for engineering, Jack Clark has secured the results needed for an apprenticeship with the Royal Navy and is currently in Scotland completing his medical and physical assessments.

Marking his first A Level Results Day as Headmaster of Worksop College and Ranby House, Charles Bailey reflected on the significance of the occasion:

“Today is a celebration not just of grades, but of the journeys behind them. These pupils have worked with determination, embraced challenges, and made the most of every opportunity. I am deeply proud of their achievements and of the dedication shown by our staff in guiding them here.

What stands out most is not only the excellence of the results, but the character, resilience, and ambition of the young people behind them. They leave us ready to make a difference in the world, and they will always have a place in our Worksop College community.”

Shebbear College students celebrate outstanding A-Level success

There were smiles all round at Shebbear College this morning as Upper Sixth students celebrated an excellent set of A-Level and BTEC results, with some truly exceptional individual achievements.

The vast majority have secured places at their first-choice university, with nearly half heading off to prestigious Russell Group institutions. The Class of 2025 will be studying a wide and impressive range of degree subjects—from STEM courses such as Computer Science, Medicine, Forensic Science and Chemistry, to Politics & International Relations, Business, Law, Drama and Theology.

Students will be taking up places at top universities including the University of St Andrews, University of Exeter, University of Leeds, Durham University and the University of Bath. In a particularly talented Performing Arts cohort, several students have earned places on specialist Drama and Music courses, including at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) and BIMM Music Institute.

Among the standout achievers were Head of School Sebastian Crookes, from Holsworthy, and Deputy Head of School Alice Hunkin, from Torrington, who both achieved an incredible four A*s in their A-levels and have secured places at their chosen universities.

Sebastian, who achieved A*A*A*A* in Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Further Maths, will be heading to the University of St Andrews to study Computer Science. Today marks a double celebration for him as it’s also his 18th birthday! Reflecting on the moment he opened his results, Sebastian said, “I was shaking this morning, and I couldn’t believe it when I opened my envelope. I wasn’t expecting to do quite as well as I did. I worked hard, but there were still some doubts in my mind. It’s just overwhelming that I got the grades I did and I’m so happy!”

A talented musician, Sebastian also holds Grade 8 in the Piano and was a finalist in the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Young Musician Competition in 2024, performing at St Hilda’s College, Oxford. “I’m actually taking my Piano Diploma in a few weeks, which is the equivalent to the first year recital at University. I love the piano so much and I’m definitely going to keep playing at Uni.”

Alice, who made headlines two years ago when she was one of only a few pupils nationwide to gain twelve grade 9s at GCSE, gained A*A*A*A* in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. She will be taking a gap year before starting her Medicine degree at the University of Leeds. “I was hoping to do quite well, but you never know what will happen on the day!” said Alice. “I wasn’t expecting to get four A*s – I also got 100% in Maths Paper 1 so I’m happy with that!”

Other notable successes include Darcey Grey, from Bude, who will be studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Bath after achieving A* in English Literature, A in Geography and A in Economics, Henry Prickett from Werrington, who will be studying Chemistry at Cardiff University and Head of School, Lily Down from Winkleigh, who will be reading Theology, Ministry & Mission at Durham University.

Performing Arts Scholar Beth Tibble secured a place to study Technical Theatre and Stage Management at the world-renowned RADA following a successful application earlier this year, whilst fellow Drama Scholar William Pomroy – fondly remembered for his iconic role as Monsieur Thénardier in Shebbear’s production of Les Misérables – will be studying Drama at Bath Spa University, and talented musician Jon-Christopher Wright, an international student from Jamaica, will be reading Popular Music Performance at BIMM University, the UK’s newest university for the creative industries.

Beth, who had unconditional offers from LAMDA and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama as well as RADA, said “I’m really excited! The applications involved interviews and practical workshops and I was lucky enough to be able to choose between the three universities. I chose RADA as it had a really nice feel to it and I thought going with vibes was probably a good way to choose!”

Charlie Jenkins, Head at Shebbear College, said “I’m so proud of our Upper Sixth – it was brilliant to see so many happy faces this morning! They’ve worked incredibly hard across all their subjects, and many have managed to balance their studies with sporting and musical commitments too. On top of that, they’ve been fantastic role models for our younger pupils, which makes today’s achievements even more special. I’m delighted that so many have secured places at the universities of their choice, and I’m sure they’ll go on to do amazing things. I hope they’ll keep in touch and let us know how they’re getting on!

A huge thank you also to our wonderful teachers, who’ve supported and encouraged them through their Sixth Form years. One of the joys of being a small school is that we get to know each pupil so well, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them heading off to the next exciting chapter in their lives.”

Remarkable set of A Level results for Repton in 2025

Repton School celebrates exceptional A Level and BTEC results, with 46% A*/A and 79% A*–B, earning pupils places at top universities and competitive apprenticeships, alongside standout achievements, scholarships, and national academic commendations.

Repton School is once again celebrating a remarkable set of A Level and BTEC results. This year, 46% of all entries were awarded an A* or A grade, and 79% achieved grades between A* and B. These impressive outcomes have enabled many Reptonians to secure places at some of the most prestigious universities in the world including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Princeton.

In total, 31 pupils achieved straight A* and A grades. Particular congratulations go to Isabella Chihota, who will read English at the University of Cambridge, William Morrison, who will study Physics at the University of Oxford with an Organ Scholarship at Somerville College, having achieved five A* grades, and Vojtech Procházka will study Mathematics at the University of Oxford. Further specific congratulations go to Annabel Crees (A*A*A*), Louis Cholerton (A*A*A*A), and Yasuaki Fujimoto (A*A*A*A*A).

Increasingly, many Reptonians are securing places on highly selective degree apprenticeship programmes—some of which are more competitive than Oxbridge applications. This year, we particularly commend the following pupils for their outstanding achievements: Ben Hidderley will be joining Deloitte, Joseph Kemsley KPMG, Jacob Ingleston-Orme Rolls Royce, and Matilda Capewell Caterpillar. Special recognition should also be given to Charles Blunt for his achievements in Fine Art A Level; he received a commendation from the exam board for attaining one of the highest marks in the country.

Headmaster Mark Semmence commented:

At Repton, we encourage every pupil to set their sights high, and it is inspiring to see so many of them realise those ambitions. Their success speaks volumes about the determination, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity they have shown throughout their time here. It also reflects the expertise, care, and encouragement of our dedicated teaching and examination teams, who have supported them at every stage of the journey.

These results are the launchpad for exciting futures, and we are confident our leavers will continue to make their mark far beyond the Arch. The Class of 2025 leaves Repton with a wealth of achievements, both inside and outside the classroom. We congratulate them all and look forward to following their progress as they embrace new challenges and opportunities across the UK and around the world.”

NatMatSci Achieves Record Breaking A Level Results with Exceptional STEM and Oxbridge Success

The National Mathematics and Science College (NatMatSci) is celebrating the best-ever A Level results, with an outstanding 86% of all results being awarded the top A-A* grades, and over half of students achieving A*A*A or better. This comes in a year where the college welcomed its largest-ever graduating cohort, 25% bigger than last year.

Specialising exclusively in STEM subjects, recognised as the most academically demanding fields, NatMatSci’s achievements this year are particularly remarkable:

  • 86% of results awarded A-A* grades
  • 54% of results awarded A* grades
  • 96% of results awarded A*-B grades

Outstanding Oxbridge Successes:

NatMatSci’s students once again demonstrated their world-class calibre, with a remarkable set of students making their Oxbridge offers:

  • Basil – Engineering, University of Cambridge (Trinity College)
  • Danills K – Mathematics, University of Cambridge (Emmanuel College)
  • Daniil S – Mathematics, University of Cambridge (Trinity College)
  • Dylan – Psychological and Behavioural Sciences, University of Cambridge (Wolfson College)

Dylan graduated from the College four years ago with straight A* grades, since then he’s completed military service in his home country and graduated from Yonsei University where he read Biotechnology, but will now shift focus to study undergraduate Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Cambridge.

Daniils K and Mehdi, who both secured and met coveted offers from Oxford and Cambridge, have elected to take a different – and equally elite – path. They will be studying in Paris at the world-renowned École Normale Supérieure, having each been awarded significant scholarships. ENS is one of France’s most selective institutions, famous for its rigorous academic training and for producing Nobel laureates, Fields Medallists, and leading figures in academia and public life.

Each different cohort brings with them their own passion and focus, this year we’ve seen outstanding success in various areas.  Economics was a particular area of strength, with multiple students earning places at Cambridge building on their many competition successes during the last two years.

Medicine has again seen extraordinary success —with all medical applicants achieving their first-choice offers, including: Imperial College London, University of Bristol, Newcastle University, University of Birmingham, University of Leicester, and the University of St Andrews.

Beyond Oxford and Cambridge, students will join leading institutions such as Imperial College London, UCL, King’s College London, University of Edinburgh, and University of Bristol, among others.

“This is an outstanding achievement for our students and our staff,” said Dr Andy Kemp, Principal of NatMatSci.

“To deliver our best-ever results with our largest cohort ever, in some of the most challenging subjects, is a true testament to the talent, dedication and focus of our students. These results build on their many Olympiad and competition successes over the last two years, with two of this cohort achieving Silver medals in the in International Chemistry and Mathematics Olympiads respectively this summer.  NatMatSci is a place where talented and passionate mathematicians and scientists can thrive, and this year’s results reinforce that there is nowhere better to pursue your passion for STEM!”

Eastbourne College’s unique ethos helps secure a superb set of A-level results

Eastbourne College’s unwavering focus on healthy ambition for its pupils has once again proven to be a highly effective formula for academic success. Today’s A-level results propel its well-rounded pupils towards exceptional futures at leading UK universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, LSE, UCL and Warwick, alongside sports scholarships at US colleges and other highly competitive pathways in areas such as law and medicine.

Underpinned by a superb 74% of grades achieved being in the range A* to B, 83% of UK university applicants are heading to their first choice university. A hefty 60% of them will be joining institutions in the leading Russell Group of universities.

With courses as diverse as astrophysics and financial mathematics, it is wonderful to see how the hard work of this talented group of young people has paid-off, underpinned at all times by our balanced, nurturing approach to education.

All pupils applying to Oxford and Cambridge achieved their conditional offers. Among them are Xanthe Lawson who will read history and German at University College, Oxford and Melanya Freeston who will read law at Jesus College, Oxford. Alongside them will be Nellie Yarrow-Davies who was awarded an unconditional offer to study human, social and political sciences at Downing College, Cambridge. Pupils heading to LSE and UCL have secured places on highly competitive courses including economics, financial mathematics and statistics, law and psychology.

Once again, we saw exceptional achievement across the cohort: day pupils and boarders, domestic and international. Demonstrating the achievement of our overseas pupils, Derren Lai achieved four A*s, securing his place at the University of Southampton to study medicine.

Commenting on the support he received, Derren said, “I’m incredibly grateful to my school and teachers for their unwavering support throughout my journey. Their personalised guidance and encouragement were instrumental in helping me achieve these fabulous results. They helped shape not just my academic performance but also my overall development. They believed in me and gave me the confidence to pursue my passion.”

Also securing places to study medicine were two local pupils who were awarded generous scholarships by the school to join for the sixth form from maintained sector schools. They will go on to study at Queen Mary University of London and the University of Nottingham.

Another local scholar, Daisy Barrow, was one of two pupils who continue a well-established pathway to securing tennis scholarships at leading US colleges, with Daisy confirming her place at Northeastern State University.

Looking back on how the College helped support her ambitions, Daisy said, “Eastbourne has inspired me and challenged me to try even harder to pursue my tennis dream. I will always look back fondly at my time at the College as the Pescud Scholar and be eternally grateful for the opportunity provided for me.”

Capping off a wonderfully diverse set of pathways were two of our most senior pupils from last year, with our head boy winning a highly sought-after apprenticeship in law with a leading firm and our deputy head girl securing a place at Boston University on a course combining physics and dance.

Reviewing the overall outcomes for the 2025 cohort, headmaster, Tom Lawson, commented, “Wherever our pupils’ ambitions take them, their A-level results represent a hugely-enabling passport for success. We remain determined to take a positive and supportive approach to unlocking the potential of every one of our young people. Today’s results are testament to the way in which they thrive in this environment.

“Striking the right balance that encourages pupils to commit to developing every aspect of themselves is paramount at Eastbourne College. These A-level results were thoroughly deserved by our pupils who worked so hard to achieve them. Mayfield, a leading Catholic independent day and boarding school for girls, is celebrating another exceptional year of A level results, with half of all grades at A* or A — including one in four at the highest A* grade.
These outstanding results have enabled Mayfield’s Upper Sixth girls to secure places at prestigious universities across the UK and abroad, including Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, St Andrews, King’s College, UCL, and Imperial.
The girls are set to embark on an exciting array of courses — from specialised fields such as Optometry, Pharmacy, Architecture, Engineering, Fine Art, Law, Medicine, Psychology, and Veterinary Physiotherapy to traditional disciplines including Economics, English, Geography, History, Maths, and the Sciences. Several girls have also secured places at some of the UK’s most sought-after conservatoires for performing arts, including Bird College and the Oxford School of Drama.

Chloe, from Hawkhurst, leaves Mayfield to take up her place at Jesus College, Oxford to read Geography having achieved all A*s in Geography, Psychology and History. She has a huge personal interest in sustainability which not only informed and shaped her passion for Geography but motivated her to take the lead on school initiatives as President of MESSY – Mayfield Environmental Society.
Chloe who is a keen public speaker, debater and competitive horse rider said: “I am absolutely delighted with my results, and I can’t thank Mayfield and my incredible teachers enough. They have been the most supportive, enthusiastic, and encouraging people throughout. I’m looking forward to starting university, but I will miss my teachers and friends so much, as well as the second home Mayfield has provided for me. Mayfield has had a hugely positive influence on shaping me into the person I am today, and I will forever be grateful to have had the opportunity to have gone here. A huge thank you to everyone who supported me on this roller coaster of a journey!”

Twins Coco and Lydia, from Wadhurst, have brought a wealth of talent and warmth to Mayfield’s Sixth Form. Not only have they shone in their prefect roles but went above and beyond in organising and hosting the School Charity Fashion Show. Lydia has been instrumental in the Events management of the Winter Ball and Coco as an advocate for women’s issues. Academically they have excelled in Mayfield’s creative and Arts subjects, studying Classics, Latin, Philosophy and Ethics,
Art and Ceramics. The girls now head north together to take up places at Edinburgh University – Coco to Study Philosophy and Lydia to pursue her exceptional creative abilities in the study of Fine Art.
Coco said: “I’m so grateful to be able to call myself a Mayfield girl, the love and support I have been shown throughout my years at Mayfield have truly shaped who I am and have been instrumental to all my achievements so far. Mayfield will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Lydia added: “Mayfield has been the most incredible journey; I’m so grateful to all my fantastic teachers who have taught me so much over the years. Mayfield holds some of my favourite memories and I can’t begin to describe how much I will miss it. I am proud to be a Mayfield girl.”

Boarder Angela leaves Mayfield with A*A*A in Maths, Economics and Physics and an A in her EPQ on the use of autonomous weapons systems. As Head Girl, Angela has developed so many of the strengths which will now support her study of Engineering at Bristol, from speaking at MUN conferences to heading the school prefect team, organising Live Crib and speaking regularly in public. She said: “Thank you to Mayfield for shaping me into who I am today. I could have not achieved my results without the support of my teachers and friends!”

Francesca’s A*AA in Economics, History and Politics have secured her goal of studying History at Durham – a subject she has always loved. As Deputy Head Girl and Sports Prefect Francesca is equally at home competing on the netball pitch or expressing herself in the dance studio as she is leading a discussion on submarines in History Society. Her talents as a formidable debater and outstanding public speaker and fabulous team-player, developed in Sixth Form, will support the next stage of her academic career.
Francesca, from Smarden, said: “I am super pleased by my results and am so fortunate to have had such wonderful teachers who have been a great support system to me over the past 2 years. Mayfield has prepared me in the best possible way for the next chapter of my life and I will be forever grateful for the wonderful 5 years spent at Mayfield.”

Local twins Sophie and Francesca have achieved outstanding A Level results with 6 As and A*s between them in History, Politics, Latin, Psychology, Economics and Maths as well as both achieving A* in EPQ. Sophie, History Ambassador, Debating Captain, leading light in school MUN – awarded best delegate in Poland – and Head of House will study History at Durham while Francesca, community prefect, advocate for the Peace and Justice group and keen hockey player takes up her place to study Economics at bath.
Sophie said: “I couldn’t be happier with my results! Thank you so much to all my teachers who helped me get there with all their dedication!”

Francesca added: “I am really pleased with my A Level results! I couldn’t have done it without all the Mayfield community who helped me along the way! Thank you to all my teachers who made this journey so much more manageable with all their help, both in and outside of lessons!”

Headmistress Deborah Bligh said: “Today’s results mark another outstanding year for Mayfield’s Sixth Form. I am absolutely delighted that the girls’ application, passion and perseverance – guided by their inspiring and dedicated teachers – have been justly rewarded. Equally important, our students leave us as young women of character, having embraced opportunities to lead, to question, to challenge, to reflect, and to think for themselves. They move on with the strength of character, emotional intelligence, and the confidence, integrity, and self-belief needed to make a positive difference in the world.”

Haberdasher’s Adams Celebrates Excellent A-Level Results

Haberdashers’ Adams is delighted to announce another excellent set of A-Level results. A total of 164 Sixth Form pupils successfully completed their A-Levels, with 74% of pupils achieving A*- B grades and 47% achieving A*- A grades.

In addition to their A-levels, 112 of our A-level pupils also took the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with an impressive 77% achieving an A*- B grade (up from 42% in 2024). The qualification is great preparation for those wishing to continue their studies at university, involving extensive research on a chosen subject, a 5000-word dissertation and a 10-minute presentation on their project.

Headmaster Gary Hickey, said: “These outstanding results reflect the dedication and perseverance of our pupils, supported every step of the way by our exceptional teachers and staff. At Haberdashers’ Adams, our pupils have not only achieved academic excellence but have also grown into confident, capable individuals ready to embrace the future. We wish them every success in the next chapter.”

There were some exceptional individual successes with three pupils securing four A* grades and three pupils achieving three A* grades. Overall, forty pupils achieved all A*/A grades. Additionally, three pupils have been successful in securing places at the University of Cambridge.

Daniel Biggins, who takes over as Headmaster in September, added: “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s excellent A-level results and incredibly proud of our pupils. They have worked with great determination and resilience, and their achievements are truly deserved. These results are a testament not only to their efforts, but also to the unwavering dedication of our teaching and support staff, who have gone above and beyond to inspire, guide, and nurture each individual. Today, we celebrate not just grades, but the journeys, growth, and futures these young people have ahead of them.

Top grades on the rise as Cranleigh School celebrates STEM and Arts excellence

Cranleigh’s Upper Sixth Formers have delivered the school’s strongest post-pandemic A Level performance, with 83% of grades at A*– B, an increase from 78% in 2024. 43% of students achieved two or more A* or A grades – up from 38% last year.

STEM subjects were a particular strength, with 63% of Mathematics students gaining A* or A and a combined A*/A rate of 60% across all maths and science courses. Economics also impressed with 70% at A*/A, while the Arts excelled with 86% in Art and 78% in Drama. Notably, 96 of the 146 students in the cohort achieved A*– B across all their subjects.

Sam Price, Head at Cranleigh School said: “Congratulations to all our Upper Sixth students receiving their results today. I’m immensely proud of this year’s achievements, not just because they represent outstanding academic performance, but because they have been earned within the healthy, happy and balanced atmosphere we work so hard to create. At Cranleigh, we set our young people up for success without becoming highly selective — and with 83% of grades at A*– B, our results speak for themselves.”

She continued: “This is my first year leading Cranleigh, and I am hugely grateful to our dedicated staff for delivering exceptional teaching and support across every subject. We are unapologetically ambitious for our pupils, and what is most pleasing about these results is knowing that almost every student has achieved the grades they need to take up a place at their first-choice university. We have students going to the most prominent institutions in the UK, the vast majority being Russell Group universities as well as those following performing arts and apprenticeship routes. We wish them every success in the exciting journeys ahead.”

Most Sixth Formers at Cranleigh also complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) alongside studying for three A-Levels. Students create a longer piece of research typically culminating in a dissertation-style essay which helps to prepare them for university learning. EPQ results also improved from last year with 44% of pupils gaining A*/A and 76% of all EPQs graded at A*- B.
