Huish proudly hosted a dynamic Girls’ Basketball Tournament towards the end of term in the Sycamore Sports Hall, welcoming teams from Kingsmead School, Uffculme School, Bishop Fox’s School, The Castle School, and Court Fields School.
The event brought together talented players from Years 7 to 10, showcasing the growing enthusiasm for Basketball in the region. The tournament was a celebration of teamwork, sportsmanship, and the power of sport to unite communities.
Huish has been home to the Huish Tigers since 1999 and has a long-standing reputation for basketball success. Huish recently won the Basketball England Education Institution of the Year Award for the Southwest.
The Huish Tigers Academy supports students to balance academic achievement with athletic development. Students selected for this programme gain access to additional training, a Physiotherapist, strength and conditioning sessions, sports massages, and more.
Huish Tigers offers players from across the county, of various ages and abilities, the chance to train, compete, and grow in a supportive environment.
“We’re thrilled to support the next generation of female athletes,” shared Gary Carter, Head of Basketball. “Events like this not only promote physical activity but also inspire confidence and ambition in young players.”
