Ipswich High School has announced a ground-breaking partnership with international education pioneer Brave Generation Academy (BGA), becoming the first school in the UK to host a BGA Learning Hub and offer a radically flexible, globally recognised education model for pupils from Year 7 upwards.
Launching in September 2025, this new educational opportunity will be based at Ipswich High School’s historic Woolverstone Hall campus, offering a personalised, hybrid approach to learning that combines digital academic study with real-world enrichment and one-to-one guidance from expert Learning Coaches and subject specialists.
The BGA model redefines traditional education by allowing Learners to follow a pathway that suits their strengths, pace and aspirations. Pupils who join the BGA programme at Ipswich High will remain fully integrated members of the school community—taking part in assemblies, events, and more than 600 enrichment activities—while undertaking their studies in the dedicated BGA Hub on campus.
“I am excited to announce that Brave Generation Academy is opening in the UK.” said Tim Vieira, CEO and Founder of Brave Generation Academy. “. We are proud to partner with Ipswich High School which will become the first UK school to offer our educational model of BGA in a school to its community. This will be a ground-breaking initiative as it will offer our different curriculums, including our UP-Unique Pathway of university degrees. It’s wonderful to share the same mindset and enthusiasm for the future of education as the Head, Mr Dan Browning who understand that some Learners are different and they deserve flexible, personalised and relevant options. We are very impressed by the staff dedication, Learners environment and the amazing school facilities at Ipswich High School and we look forward to welcoming new pupils for 2025.”
Three Flexible Academic Pathways, One Exceptional School
The BGA model offers pupils access to three distinct pathways; all delivered with the flexibility and support that sets the Academy apart:
· British International Curriculum: Beginning at age 12, Learners can study for Lower Secondary, IGCSEs, and A-Levels, and progress to universities around the world.
· American Curriculum: Starting from Year 7, Learners can pursue a US High School Diploma through partnerships with Forward International Academy and University Pathways, enabling direct access to US colleges.
· Unique Pathway (UP): A first in the UK, this track enables pupils as young as 16 to begin degree-level study in subjects such as Psychology and Sports Science, with diplomas accredited by UK universities. Further courses in Business, Computing, and Education will follow.
“This is a truly innovative step in our school’s journey,” said Dan Browning, Head of Ipswich High School. “We are delighted to be the first UK school to partner with Brave Generation Academy (BGA) and bring the opportunities that they offer to pupils in the UK. Through this innovative partnership we will be able to offer access to the US curriculum, as well as a huge range of additional A-Level and other UK qualifications that have not until now been part of our curriculum. We are especially excited to be able to offer, through the ‘UP Programme’ degree courses to 16 year olds, accredited through UK universities. Initially we will be offering degree courses in Psychology and Sports Science with more coming on line soon. We think we are the first mainstream independent school in the UK to be able to offer degree courses to pupils from the age of 16. When young people join us to study BGA courses, their lessons will take place in our BGA Hub, supported by a learning coach based in Woolverstone Hall, but as our learners, they will be part of our school community and have full access the breadth of our enrichment offer, sports, support services and will be part of a Course Manager group. This programme really is a first in the UK.”
All BGA Learners at Ipswich High School will benefit from the school’s full range of pastoral support, facilities, and community ethos, blending the best of modern flexibility with the structure and care of a traditional school environment.
With this announcement, Ipswich High School cements its position as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking independent schools, setting a new standard for hybrid, international education within a supportive school setting.
To introduce the programme, Ipswich High School and Brave Generation Academy will host a live online launch and information event on Thursday 4th July at 3:30PM. Families, prospective pupils, and educators from around the globe are invited to discover more about the three academic pathways on offer, meet key members of the team, and explore how BGA at IHS is shaping the future of education.
