IB Diploma Results 2025

Marlborough College Malaysia students are enjoying a world-beating set of IB Diploma results, surpassing all global and Asia-Pacific benchmarks.

Of the 78 IB Diploma candidates at MCM, one in five students achieved an IB score of over 40 points, more than twice the global average of one in 12 pupils. We would like to congratulate all those who scored over 40 points on this outstanding achievement, which is a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Congratulations to Jolie T, who achieved a maximum score of 45 points. Jolie’s outstanding result places her among the top students globally, and she will now continue her academic journey at Stanford University. We wish to congratulate her on this enormous achievement and look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish in the years ahead.

MCM candidates’ average score of 35 points is the equivalent at A-Level of A*, A*, A and far exceeds the world average of 30.5.

Mr Simon Burbury, Master of the College, said:

I am immensely proud of our Upper Sixth for their results this year. These outcomes reflect not only their academic ability, but the resilience, integrity and spirit with which they’ve approached every challenge along the way. The IB is no easy path. This cohort leaves us not only with excellent results, but with possibly the strongest set of university offers in the College’s history — a testament to their hard work and ambition. We wish all our Upper Sixth leavers the very best of luck with their future endeavours. They have all brought an individual energy, personality and uniqueness to our community, and we are, as a College, all the better for it. They will be missed.

Our new Diploma graduates are now choosing between offers from some of the world’s leading universities. As a British school, most offers come from the UK’s prestigious Russell Group universities, but MCM’s global outlook ensures students also accept places at top institutions worldwide, including in the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia, and across Asia.

Interest in US universities remains strong, with offers from leading institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Stanford, UCLA, USC, NYU, and Parsons School of Design. In the UK, students have secured five offers from Imperial College London, recently ranked number one nationally, as well as six offers each from University College London (UCL) and Loughborough University, renowned for its sports programmes.

One pupil has been awarded a prestigious full scholarship to study music at the University of Toronto, and all aspiring medics have already secured university places.

In total, the 78-strong cohort has received 107 offers from top 100 global universities, including 12 from institutions ranked in the world’s top 10, and 101 offers from Russell Group universities, reflecting the academic ambition and preparation nurtured across the College.

To prepare our Sixth Form students for university and the world of work, MCM offers one of the widest ranges of IB Diploma subjects in the region, enabling them to tailor their studies and pursue their strengths within a cohesive, challenging programme. This breadth of study is reflected in the range of undergraduate courses our students will begin next year, spanning natural sciences, humanities, and languages, as well as professional courses such as medicine, law, finance, and engineering, alongside creative fields including fine art, music and design.

At Marlborough College Malaysia, every pupil has the opportunity to complete the IB Diploma. It is not limited to perceived high achievers, and year after year, our students demonstrate that with the right guidance and attitude, everyone can succeed.

Beyond academics, our Sixth Formers benefit from experiences that challenge both intellect and character, alongside a leadership programme designed to prepare them not only for academic success but also for independent living and a fulfilling life beyond school.
