Loughborough Grammar School’s U15A cricket team are celebrating a remarkable run of success after being crowned Leicestershire County Champions and securing a place in the national quarter-finals of the English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) Midlands T20 competition.

In the county final against Leicester Grammar School, Loughborough Grammar School delivered a sterling bowling performance, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Star of the innings, Tom Martin, took an impressive 4 wickets for just 6 runs from 4 overs. Harry Spicer and Oscar Trimingham contributed with sharp fielding and two crucial run outs to help bowl out the opposition for just 84 runs.

The Loughborough Grammar boys kept their composure with valuable contributions from across the batting line-up. Oscar Trimmingham provided a steadying influence at the crease to see the team home and secure the County Cup title.

Fresh off this success, the team represented Leicestershire against Stamford, the Lincolnshire champions, in the English School Cricket Association (ESCA) Midlands T20 competition. A commanding batting performance, led by Bill Crouch (45) and Tom Martin (48), set a total of 172. The bowling unit once again excelled, with Bobby McAuley delivering a standout spell of 4 overs, 2 maidens, 2 wickets for just 2 runs, as Stamford were dismissed for 72.

The victory propels Loughborough Grammar School, a day school with boarding, into the quarter-finals against Bishop’s Stortford High School later this week. The winner of this match will progress to Finals Day at Arundel Castle Cricket Club, with the opportunity to be crowned champions of the ESCA Midlands T20.

Mr James Neville, Head of Loughborough Grammar School, praised the team’s outstanding performances and dedication:

“We are incredibly proud of the U15A team, not only for their sporting success, but for the determination, teamwork and character they continue to show. Many of these boys represent the School across multiple sports, and this level of achievement reflects their hard work and commitment. They are fine ambassadors for our School.

Mr Neville continued: “This latest success highlights the growing momentum of sport at Loughborough Grammar School, with our U15 teams also securing county titles in football and rugby this year. It’s been a truly outstanding season across the board.”

Director of Sport for the Loughborough Schools Foundation, Mrs Jo Hackett, added:

“This team epitomises the sporting values we strive to instil across the Foundation—dedication, discipline, and a deep sense of team spirit. Their achievements across several sports, and now in cricket, show the breadth of talent and the supportive environment we aim to provide. We wish them all the best for the national quarter-finals and beyond.”

With their eyes now set on the next challenge, the U15s continue to fly the flag for Loughborough Grammar School and Leicestershire on the national stage.
