Richard Huish College celebrated the Class of 2023 at their annual Prizegiving Ceremony on Wednesday 10th April.
Nominated by teaching staff the awards recognise students who showed extraordinary promise during their time at college, whether it be for outstanding achievement, their work ethic or best embodying the values of the College.
There were 54 awards in total this year including the two top accolades, Principal’s Prize for Student of the Year and Principal’s Prize for Contribution to the College Community, which went to Arjun Ashok and Albert Hacker respectively.
Several individuals and organisations support these awards through sponsorship including Amicus Law, Arthur C Clarke Foundation, Bill Revans, Helen Twyble, Mr & Mrs Belluomo, Peter Avery, Robert Spooner, Rosie Austin, Somerset Care, Taunton Chamber of Commerce and Wellington Motors.
The winners, guests, staff and sponsors were welcomed to the ceremony by a performance by current Huish Musician, Mac Lee, who starred as Clyde earlier this year in the College’s production of Bonnie & Clyde.
Before Principal Emma Fielding and Vice Principal Becky Flower distributed the awards, all were inspired by a powerful speech delivered by Huish Alumna, Tarsha Coleman, who is completing a PGCE at Oxford University
Guests enjoyed time at their tables catching up with one another and meeting sponsors who shared their advice with the winners in their field.
