Steyning Grammar School – Cultural Day

Posted: 20th March 2024

On Saturday 9th March, Boarding celebrated their very first Culture Day. The event was organised and run by the Head Boy, Sammy and Head Girl, Kiki, with help from the whole boarding community. The day began with a final session of sewing and embellishing printwork on the theme of community, identity and belonging, a project that has been running since the start of the year. It was lovely to see our boarders and members of the local community sat working away together while the flags and decorations went up around them. As it approached dinner, Kiki and Sammy compered a parade, where boarders dressed in their national and cultural attire, proudly waved their flags, and then held a quiz where boarders showed their knowledge of international culture. After dinner, we held a party in the Bolton Common room where it would be fair to say the cohesion and community spirit of boarding was well and truly on display. A great day, and one that we hope to replicate in years to come.
