Eleven medals won by Millfield pentathletes at World Championships in Bali

Millfield pentathletes won eleven medals for Team GB at the World Biathle/Triathle Championships in Nusa Dua, Bali.

The competition brought new challenges to the Millfield contingent, with athletes competing in 32 degree heat, running in the sand and swimming with strong currents and big waves in the sea. Incredible performances across the board saw the Millfield and Millfield Prep pentathletes rank as some of the top athletes in the world for their age groups and disciplines.

Year 9 student Ruby B claimed a gold medal for Team GB in the U15 Triathle, silver for Team GB in the U15 Biathle, bronze in the U15 Individual Triathle, fourth in the U15 Individual Biathle and seventh in the U15 Triathle Mixed Relay. Year 9 Millfield student Mateo E brought home a Bronze for Team GB in the U15 Triathle, while claiming fourth in the U15 Triathle Mixed Relay and ninth in the U15 Individual Triathle. Hunter K was 19th in the U15 Triathle Final.

From Millfield Prep School, exceptional performances saw Year 7 Polly W ranked as the second in the world individually in the U13 Biathle. Polly also claimed a team silver in the U13 Team Biathle. Year 7 Kruze F was team world champion as part of the U13 GB Triathle team, while also claiming a silver medal in the U13 Team Biathle alongside fourth and sixth place finishes in the U13 Individual Triathle and Biathle events.

Year 8 Bea S won a silver medal in the U13 Team Biathle for Team GB, while finishing fourth in the U13 Individual Biathle. Eva D was a silver medallist in the U13 Team Triathle event, and produced impressive finishes of seventh in the U13 Individual Triathle and 10th in the U13 Individual Biathle. Also finishing as a team silver medallist in the U11 Triathle was Year 6 Raffie B, who also claimed seventh place in the U11 Individual Triathle and 12th place in the U11 Individual Biathle.

Millfield Modern Pentathlon regularly enters athletes for regional and national competitions in biathle, biathlon, triathlon, tetrathlon and pentathlon. The club has close links with Regional Talent and Athlete Development Programmes, into which Millfield students are regularly selected. Old Millfieldians include former Olympian and Pentathlon GB Team Leader Dominic Mahoney and Irish Olympian and European Champion Arthur Lanigan O’Keeffe.
