ACS International School Egham students are celebrating their outstanding International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) results achieving an 89% pass rate, exceeding last year’s global average of 82%.
The MYP is an internationally-recognised alternative to GCSEs which is offered to all students aged 11-16 at ACS Egham, one of just 27 schools in the UK to offer the qualification. ACS Egham Middle School students’ average score this year was 5.5 out of 7, equivalent to a Grade 6 at GCSE.
The highest score achieved by an ACS Egham student was an impressive 53 out of 56 points, which would have placed them in the top 3% of MYP students worldwide in 2022. Students received exceptional results in Integrated Sciences, Visual Arts and Music, performing well above the global averages for each subject.
Mark Wilson, Head of School at ACS Egham commented: “We are immensely proud of our Middle School students who continue to achieve academic excellence and are well prepared to embrace the challenges of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP). We have no doubt this cohort will continue to excel in their final school years with us.”
The MYP emphasises the importance of making connections between studies in traditional subjects and the real world, fostering the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding, and global engagement. The MYP builds on the knowledge and skills built by the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and prepares students for the DP and CP.
