A team of budding business students from ACS International School Egham reached the international finals of the Business@School programme hosted in Vienna by consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
The ACS Egham team, of students aged 16 – 17, were one of eight school finalists to present their business idea to a panel of expert judges from BCG and other international organisations and managed to reach the final round in the international competition.
The team was commended for its sustainable proposal for leisurewear made of bamboo. Ahead of the finals, the team developed their entrepreneurial skills by analysing a large company and a local business before developing their own business idea and business plan.
Gema Quintanilla, International Baccalaureate Business Management Teacher and Business@School Coordinator at ACS Egham, said: “The programme provides students with hands-on business experience, enabling them to develop their entrepreneurial spirit by bringing their ideas to life. As the first team to represent ACS Egham in the competition, the students have acquired life-long skills, from presentation to teamwork skills. It was a pleasure to witness The Bamboo Clothing House team attend the Final International round in Vienna and I’m proud of the recognition they have achieved for all their hard work.”
ACS Egham is the first UK school to enter the educational business programme, which provides more than 1,000 students each year with the opportunity to learn about business in three phases over the course of the school year, with the valuable advice and support of coaches from partner organisations of the initiative.
