Bishop’s Stortford College pupil qualifies for England National Summer Swimming Championships.

Bishop’s Stortford College Fourth Form (Year 9) pupil, Dylan Davenport, has qualified for the England National Summer Championships to be held in Sheffield, 2 – 6 August 2023.

Following on from Dylan’s achievements at the County Championships earlier in the year, where he won two gold, three silver and two bronze medals, Dylan progressed to the East of England Regional Championships which took place in May. Dylan qualified in eight events of which he reached the finals of five events, securing two bronze medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle events, and achieved new personal best records.

Setting these new personal bests secured Dylan an invitation to the England National Summer Championships which will take place in August. The top 22 swimmers from across the country in each event and age group are invited to compete, with Dylan ranking 8th in the country in the 50m freestyle and 15th in the 100m freestyle in his age group during the qualifying window.

Head of Aquatics, Ashley Bygraves, commented, “Congratulations to Dylan on this incredible achievement! It is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport of swimming. We are extremely proud of him and wish him all the best as he competes at the England National Summer Championships. Dylan is an inspiration to his fellow swimmers and a shining example of excellence, that can be achieved through commitment to sport, that Bishop’s Stortford College strives to instil in all our pupils.”

The College wishes Dylan all the best in the upcoming championships.
