Slindon College’ Headteacher, Mrs Vlahodimou led a thought-provoking workshop at the 11th Annual SEN Conference at the University of Chichester.

The Centre for Special Education and Disability Studies at the University of Chichester’s, Institute of Health, Education and Social Sciences held its 11th Annual SEN Conference in mid-May.

The Keynote Speaker was Associate Professor Sarah Martin-Denham, and she gave a presentation on ‘Learning from commissioned research on school exclusion.’

Our very own Headteacher, Mrs Sotiria Vlahodimou, held two workshops during the event which focused on precursory measures before exclusion. Her workshop titled “Engaging Reluctant Learners” enabled thought-provoking discussion around pupils who struggle to thrive in a mainstream environment. The professional groups explored themes such as pupil voice and autonomy, environmental alterations, individual intervention as well as universal classroom strategies which support a variety of different learning styles, strengths and needs.

“I heard [Sotiria] speak as part of the University of Chichester SEND conference and found it really inspiring.”
