This has been a fantastic term for pupil-led charity fundraising. In total, £25,000 has been raised for eight amazing charities.

Hannah K (U6) raised £13,489 for Bowel Cancer UK when she ‘braved the shave’ and donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust. Hannah took on the challenge, inspired by her Mum who is bravely battling the disease.

Dom C (L6) has also ‘braved the shave’ and is raising additional donations by taking part in the 125-mile Devizes to Westminster Kayak race in support of his friend, George, who has Leukaemia. Dom has raised £4,084 so far for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

It has been a busy term of fundraising for the Prefects and Wellbeing Ambassadors. The former raised £900 from the Prefects’ Prom for the OSCAR Foundation to support their football tour to the UK which will spend time at Marlborough in the next Michaelmas Term; and the latter raised £1,115 for the Charlie Waller Trust from a second-hand clothing sale in Norwood Hall. Further funds were raised for the Charlie Waller Trust via an Invitational Lacrosse Tournament hosted at the College. Twenty U18 teams attended and more than £2,500 was raised.

The Charity Committee led a school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors game which raised £385 for the Lunchbowl Network and at the Rock and Pop Concert, Olly R (L6) and Dasha Y (L6) raised £250 for the Iris project. Jules B (L6) walked 30km around Sydney in under six hours, raising £1,983 for the College bursary fund. Cotton House held a charity day on Sunday 19th March, raising almost £400 for Operation Smile.

Omer G (U6) and Damla R (L6) have raised £200 to date for the Turkey/Syria earthquake appeal and more events will be held next term for this appeal.

Our sincere thanks go to this year’s Charity Committee for all their hard work in both leading and in supporting other pupils in charitable initiatives. Interviews for next year’s group have been taking place this week, with a strong field applying, and we wish those who are successful all the best in following in the considerable footsteps of the outgoing committee.
