ACS International School Cobham’s Girls’ Varsity basketball team triumphed at the National Schools Championships 2023, beating stiff competition to be crowned as the U19 Girls National Champions.

The Cobham Varsity girls put on an incredible final performance in Manchester, winning back 12 points with just six minutes to go. The girls fought back against former finalist Holy Trinity School, Croydon to take the game to overtime, eventually winning 78-75.

Sebastian Pedley, Assistant Director of Sport at ACS Cobham, says: “This is a massive achievement for our Girls’ Varsity team. The players put on a seriously impressive performance at the National Finals, demonstrating their commitment while acting as true ambassadors for basketball at ACS Cobham.”

Basketball forms a core part of the sports offering at ACS Cobham. Boys and girls in High School are able to play all year round and during the second trimester in Middle School. Alongside coaching from a designated Head of Basketball, all students have access to the school’s competition-size sports arena with full-sized double basketball courts and spectators area, all helping to ensure that the much-loved sport continues to develop and expand.
