Strathallan swimmers put on stellar performance in the pool at Scottish National Championships

Eight Strathallan School swimmers competed at the Scottish National Age-Group Championships (SNAGs) in Aberdeen, bringing home 41 new personal bests and 22 medals.

Eight pupils from the Perthshire school competed in 57 races, reaching 36 finals, landing 41 new PBs and taking home 12 National Champion titles.

Director of Swimming at Strathallan, Elaine Johnston, said, “I’m incredibly proud of all our swimmers. They all performed so well and learned lots from their events. Special mention goes to our youngest swimmer, Finlay B on winning his 1st national open championship and first Scottish Age Group championship.”

“For our swim team to come away with 41 new PBs and 22 medals is a huge achievement and they should all be proud of their efforts in the pool. They represented the school and their clubs, Perth City Swim Club and Dundee City Aquatics, excellently over the last five days.”

SNAGs is one of the major meets in the swimming calendar for swimmers, coming a week after the British Swimming Championships in Sheffield where Strathallan student Evan D competed for 6 days.

The results from SNAGs are as follows:

Evan D (Age 16)

National Open Champion in the 100/200/400 free, 200IM, 100/200 fly, 100/200 BR plus relay medals.

Euan W (Age 15)

National Open Champion in the 400 IM, 50 Br.

Bronze – 400 f/c, 100 Br, 800 free. 4th – 200 IM/ 200 Br.

Finlay B (Age 14)

National Open Champion in the 100/200 back.

Open Silver & Scottish Age-Group Champion – 200 IM,

Bronze – 200 free.

5th – 400 f/c, 8th 100 free.

Elise C (Age 17-18)

Bronze in the 200 IM

Finals in 50/100/200/400 free, 50 fly.

Kristin M (Age 15)

Finals in 400/800/1500 free, 400 IM

Three other Strathallan swimmers also competed at SNAGs. Swimming well and landing new PBs, James G, Harrie W, who took a PB in the 100 br and Grace H who swam fast in her relay races.
