ACS International School Cobham in Surrey has supported more than 100 Ukrainian refugees since May 2022, helping them adapt to life in the UK.

To support the Ukrainian refugee families based in nearby Elmbridge, ACS Cobham developed a programme to activities and with welcoming workshops including music, bracelet making, arts and crafts, forest school, nature walks, sports, and English lessons.

School volunteers have also run mock job interviews to give the adults confidence when trying to find work. Young people were also given help with writing personal statements to apply for university.

Barnaby Sandow, Head Of School at ACS Cobham, said: “We are thrilled with the progress of our Ukrainian refugee support sessions. Most of the adults now have jobs, and many of the young people have settled in so well at local schools. At ACS Cobham, we believe in developing and enriching the entire community and are so pleased to have made a positive difference.”
