We were delighted to welcome Michael Dawson, former Spurs football captain and England player, for a Q&A session with Mr Bradburne, our Director of Sport.
Michael reinforced that hard work, determination and a positive attitude are the key to a successful career, both on and off the field. He also stressed that respect was one of the most important values, whether towards the England Manager or the person washing the kit.
Michael, who was born in Yorkshire, spoke to Woodhouse Grove pupils, parents and staff, as well as to Bradford City Academy players, who continue their education based at Woodhouse Grove School. Michael talked about his time as an academy player at Nottingham Forest, his career at Spurs, his role models throughout, coping with injuries, and his current role as a Sky Sports pundit.
It was both interesting and inspiring to listen to Michael talk about his experiences during a 20 year career as a professional footballer. Key messages for those looking to succeed in any career were to be committed and resilient – two of our Grovian values.
