Hanford deemed excellent across the board in ISI report

Posted: 5th January 2023

Hanford School, an independent day and boarding prep school for girls based in Dorset, has been deemed โ€˜Excellentโ€™ across the board following a thorough ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) Inspection.ย ย  The inspection took place over four days in November 2022 and looked at all areas of Hanfordโ€™s educational offer, including pastoral care, the girlsโ€™ development and the schoolโ€™s overall compliance against the ISIโ€™s required standards.

Headmaster, Rory Johnston, said of the Inspection result, โ€œTo pass with such flying colours is a wonderful endorsement of the education and care that the girls receive at Hanford.ย ย  The inspectors clearly saw the benefit of our approach to education, where creativity, freedom and discovery is nurtured alongside encouraging girlsโ€™ confidence and instilling a life-long love of learning.โ€

Inspectors reported that Hanford pupilsโ€™ โ€œattitude to learning (were).. outstanding.ย  They participate in lessons with notable enthusiasmโ€ and that they were โ€œhighly perceptive and self-aware with excellent collaborative skills.โ€

Mr Johnston met this week with teaching and support staff at the start of the new Spring Term to feedback the results of the Inspection, saying “Such a successful Inspection is not a result in itself; rather it is a validation of all the wonderful work that staff and pupils do all the time at Hanford.โ€
