EnRICH Day returns for a second year

Posted: 14th December 2022

The first of Richard Huish College’s semi-annual EnRICH days took place on Thursday 8th December.

The day celebrates everything the EnRICH programme at Huish is designed to support students with.

The usual academic timetable is suspended and students pick from a wide range of activities that aid a community or charity, or that improve their life skills, health and wellbeing, or progression & employability.

Whilst enrichment activities are available all year round the EnRICH day gives students an additional opportunity to experiment with new interests that they may not otherwise explore.

Activities this year ranged from sporting pursuits to trips off campus; Christmas crafting to scientific experiments; performance rehearsals to charity collections, to name just a few.

Charities supported this year were Arc and Help Thy Neighbour. Students gathered donations and packaged them in festive wrapping to provide 94 boxes to Arc for their Shoebox Appeal, and 72 family hamper boxes to Help Thy Neighbour.

Sharon Williams, Course Manager for Business, Marketing and Management, coordinated the Help Thy Neighbour donations and shared “I would like to personally thank everyone that kindly donated items for the Help Thy Neighbour family hamper boxes. We made an incredible 72 hampers! Thank you, you are all truly amazing and generous”.

Her sentiments were supported by Mel Kubicki, Sociology Teacher and coordinator of donations for Arc, who shared “Thank you so much for your kind donations. We had a fantastic day and managed to fill 94 shoeboxes. These will get distributed amongst the 170 people using the services that Arc provide and hopefully shine a little light this Christmas”.

The next EnRICH day takes place on 27th June 2023.

Students of our Performing Arts EnRICH programme present their production of ‘Our House’ early next year. Tickets are available now for the show running 1st-3rd February 2023.
