An Evening of Celebration at Abbey College Manchester

Abbey College Manchester has celebrated the outstanding achievements of its Year 13 students at a prestigious graduation and awards ceremony, held at the iconic Radisson Edwardian Hotel in the City Centre.

In recognition of their successes throughout their time at the leading independent college, each and every student was invited onto the stage to be presented with their course completion certificate by Abbey College Manchester’s Principal, Chris Randell. During the evening, a number of students were also highly-commended with a series of special awards.

Vilamos (Will) was honoured with the ‘Best A Level Student’ award for his outstanding achievements and commitment. Following his accomplishments Will, who studies Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics, has secured a much-coveted offer to read Chemistry at the University of Oxford.

The ‘Best International Foundation Programme (IFP) Student’ accolade went to Riham from Morocco, who lives in the college boarding house. Riham, who studies the IFP Medicine pathway, plans to study Medicine at The University of Buckingham.

Securing the award for Best Boarding Student was Niran from Thailand, who is studying the International Foundation Programme (IFP) in Business and Sports and is also on the college’s unique Academic Studies with Football Training Programme. Following his graduation, Niran has ambitions to study Sport and Business Management at University.

Nicky Cathery’s form was honoured with the Jane Barraclough award, an accolade for service in the community, made in recognition of the late reverend of the Unitarian Chapel on Cross Street. The students in Nicky’s form were presented with the esteemed award for their charitable work throughout the academic year.

Throughout the joyous ceremony students, staff members, family and friends of the college were entertained by an array of remarkable musical performances, as talented vocalists took centre stage to showcase their spectacular skills.

Chris Randell, Abbey College Manchester Principal commented, “Our annual graduation and awards ceremony offered a wonderful opportunity for our college community to join together and celebrate the many successes of our students – a fitting confirmation of our college motto of ‘Achieving Success Together’. We would like to wish them the best of luck for their future and look forward to hearing of their further accomplishments.”

Abbey College is a leading independent college in the heart of Manchester, with a fast-growing and vibrant community.

There are 220 students at the college, comprising a mix of students from the local area and other countries. The college offers A-Level, GCSE, Combined Studies and International Foundation Programmes.
