Athletes from Leweston selected to compete in Greece for GB Triathle Team

Two athletes from Leweston School have been selected for the GB Triathle Team for the championships that will take place this August in Greece.

The Leweston Triathle took place on 15 May with 155 athletes from around the country. This was a qualifying event for the European Triathle Championships and a selection for the GB Triathle team for the championships that will place in Marathon Greece in August.

Leweston School had 10 athletes taking part in the event with some good results. In the U11 girls, Izzy K, Prep 4, had the best result of the day to finish 2nd in her first Triathle.

In the U13 Katrina S, Prep 6 was 7th, Freya D, Prep 6, was 16th, and Cecelia B, Prep 6, was 19th.

In the U15 (which had one of the strongest fields of competitors) Izzy W, Year 8, finished 9th, Jess S, Year 8 finished 12th, Esme L, Year 8, was 14th and Evanna B, Year 8, was 6th.

In the U17, Molly C, Year 10, had a excellent race to finish 4th with Millie W, Year 10, competing well for 7th.

From the event Molly & Izzy have been selected for the GB team with Millie & Katrina being 1st reserves for a place.

Well done to all the school pupils taking part in very wet and windy conditions, the next event for the team is the South West Schools Laser Run on 12th June and the National Schools Biathle on 19th June both at Leweston School.
