Strathallan School student Alexander Thom has been named in the 26-player squad for the Under-18 Six Nations series.

The 18-year-old from Drumnadrochit said he can’t wait to play for Scotland in the upcoming Six Nations festival in Marcoussis, France.

Alexander, who joined Strathallan in 2020, said, “I can’t wait to get started. It’s a new challenge but we have a great group of lads who are working together really well.”

The Perthshire pupil, who has played for the Glasgow Warriors Under-18 and Under-16 squads as well as Highland Rugby Club, first picked up a ball at age of four. He said he was incredibly proud to present Scotland on the pitch.

“I’ve made some of my closest friends from places I never thought I would have in rugby,” he added. “I’m excited to give it my all out in France, stay focused and competitive and maybe make new friends in the fixtures.”

Alexander joins a long list of former Strathallan pupils who have been selected to represent Scotland at U18 level including Glasgow Warriors Murphy Walker, Ollie Smith, Leicester Tiger Cameron Henderson, as well as seasoned internationalists Jamie Ritchie, Murray McCallum, Zander and Matt Fagerson, and George Horne.

Andrew Henderson, Director of Strathallan Rugby Academy, said, “It’s great to see Alex selected for the Under-18 squad. He works hard and has taken every opportunity in his path. I’m sure he will continue to put his best foot forward in France.”

The U18 Six Nations festival starts on Saturday 9th April in Marcoussis in France.
