The Royal High School Bath has planted two trees during a ceremonial tree planting event today (Thursday 10 March) to mark Her Majesty The Queenโs Jubilee celebrations this year.
The Ginkgo Biloba (Maidenhair) trees were specially planted for The Queenโs Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative inviting people from across the UK to โPlant a Tree for the Jubileeโ. One tree was given pride of place in the grounds of the Royal High Senior School campus while the other was planted in the grounds of the Prep Schoolโs Cranwell House site.
Kate Reynolds, Head of The Royal High School Bath was joined by Richard Hall, Chair of the Governors, for the ceremony to celebrate the tree planting, which also coincides with the schoolโs environmental focus and sustainability policy. In addition to tree planting, the Queenโs Green Canopy also aims to highlight the educational aspects of trees and the significance of giving young people access to nature and to inspire young people as the future custodians of the UKโs green spaces, forests and woodlands.
Kate Reynolds, Head of The Royal High School Bath, said โWe are delighted to mark the Queenโs Jubilee with this wonderfully positive initiative that simultaneously highlights the importance of trees and aims to inspire everyone to get involved and really champion the care of our trees, woodlands and green spaces.
โThis perfectly fits with our whole-school approach to sustainability and the belief that โyou are never too small to make a differenceโ. We believe and teach our girls that itโs everyoneโs responsibility to care for the environment and to be proactive about bringing about this change. It starts with our Nursery and Prep School where the children love playing in the wooded areas and benefit massively from spending time outdoors in a beautiful space with plenty of variety of trees.โ
The trees at The Royal High School have been added to the UK map on the Queenโs Green Canopy website www.queensgreencanopy.org pinpointing tree planting projects from October 2021-March 2022.
