A new education partnership has been announced that will see Dorset-based Bryanston School work more closely with a neighbouring comprehensive.
The boarding school will partner with Ferndown Upper School to broaden pupils’ opportunities, strengthen staff development and promote educational
The two schools plan to bring together pupils and staff through a range of academic, co-curricular and professional initiatives to improve outcomes for young people.
A key element will be the establishment of a new scholarship programme to provide funded places for pupils from Ferndown Upper who demonstrate exceptional potential to flourish in a boarding school environment.
Scholarships will recognise both academic excellence and achievement or potential in areas aligned with Bryanston’s pillars: creative and performing arts, sport, engineering and the digital world,
Liz Thornton, Deputy Head, Staff & Partnerships at Bryanston, said: “We are delighted to be establishing this partnership which will offer many opportunities for young people while enabling staff across both schools to learn from one another.
“There is a great deal of expertise within our two communities, and by bringing that together we can create something that greatly benefits pupils and staff.”
The two schools will work together to broaden learning opportunities for pupils through shared educational visits, events and external speakers, including more partnership on university and career pathways.
Bryanston will also participate in the Dorset Maintained Schools Group, sharing best practice between school leaders, including approaches to behaviour, teaching and school improvement. The programme will also include Joint Continuing Professional Development opportunities.
